Hello everyone,
I'm the spouse of another member of these boards. Typically, I stay to the SO section but I've ventured over on this particular day to gather some information. My wife has expressed a strong desire for the Yeson voice feminization surgery. I've done a little research into it on their site, but I'm still not sure about the whole thing. Being a nurse, I'm a little hesitant about some of the newer medical procedures that don't have as much data on them. There are tooooooons of threads here on this topic and I have tried to pick through them, but it's a little overwhelming.
Obviously, my main concern is the results. I have heard some of the post op voices and they can be very impressive, but how realistic are these expectations? Do the majority of patients have such great results or what should we be expecting? Are these results better than working with a voice coach or the same? What can the complications be like? I know other voice surgeries can run the risk of losing voices entirely, is that something that's also possible with this technique? Also, I thought I read on the Yeson site that after the surgery they don't recommend trach shaves. Is that the case? By getting this surgery would she be eliminating that as an option for the future?
I know many of these questions may need to be answered by the professionals themselves but I'm looking for a little guidance here. I want to be supportive, because I know how important this is to her, but right now my doubt is at the forefront and I need some reassurance by those who have been through it. I appreciate the help!
