In the midst of an awful day where I feel like I want to hurt myself or worse it occurred to me that this has happened every Thursday since starting HRT on 8-31. I'm on the estradiol transdermal patch and I'm wondering if I'm getting a mid-week drop in estrogen levels. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? If so, what did you do to get through it because I feel like I am on the edge and am very close to stepping off.

So far I haven't noticed any, but then I have only been on the estradiol transdermal patches just shy of two weeks now. If I do start to see them, then I will let you know.

Maybe share this with your doc and ask if dose can be slightly increased, perhaps this can help?
I am not a medical doctor, nor a scientist - opinions expressed by me on the subject of HRT are merely based on my own review of some of the scientific literature over the last decade or so, on anecdotal evidence from women in various discussion forums that I have come across, and my personal experience

This is a tough one but i think you are even tougher than that and trust you will keep back from the edge.  You are so lovable and needed up there.  I have been on the patch for about 18 months and compared to some of my friends on the blue bill and injections I feel a more consistent level is happening.  But, as you know, if we sweat, get in the tub or a good hot shower the patches may first give us a surge then drop, if fresh, or simply peel off.  I have no experience with them but have heard rave reviews for the persistent levels with pellets.

Thank you but right now I feel anything but loveable. I'm so moody even I don't what I'll  be doing from one moment to the next. This weekend it was hysterical crying followed by cursing at every stoplight and stupid driver. I was hoping my mood would stabilise on HRT but it hasn/t as of yet.

I had wicked PMS on the weekly patches, although I got cranky more than depressed. I called my endo and asked if I could switch to the patches that are changed twice a week (same dosage, just changed more frequently) and it worked like a charm. :) I've since found out that those weekly patches are generally rated to provide 100% of the dose for about 4 days and then it starts tapering off, which would explain both my symptoms and why switching them every 3.5 days prevented the PMS issues.

Vivelle Dot is more expensive but it's packaged to be changed twice a week for menopausal cis women, so it was more convenient for me (plus it's tiny, which is also a lot easier).

Important thing to remember is things will get better for you. Every time you feel like hurting yourself remember that it is just temporary and you just have to ride it out.

Otherwise yeah I'd mention it to your endo to see if there is anything that can be done to smooth things out.

Thank you all. I'm going to ask my provider about the twice a week patches. If things follow as they have the past 5 weeks than tomorrow is going to be a bad day. I'm not looking forward to it at all.
