Been stopping in every few days during the last three weeks to read a post or two.  So, thought I'd post some timeline photos from the last two years, and three months.  The first photo is actually  when I was 18 in 1969, and the second is from my retirement party 6 months prior starting real hormones, and the timeline actually starts with the trimmed beard 5 months into hrt.
Last photo is at a club last Monday night.

Sometimes I can't see much change in the last six months.

OOPS. The photo in the pink seersucker overshirt should have been the third transition photo.

Thank you.  Yes, lately I'm enjoying it.  Even with a bad day tossed in once a month.

Thanks for posting these pictures!

I'm 3 or 4 years older than you and just starting out on this journey. I am extremely 'hairline challenged' and to see how well you have done and how happy you seem to be is a real inspiration to me. My comments are based on the similarity of age, hairline and beard and on my present anxiety. As you had been, I'm also hiding behind a beard and can't wait to be free of it and on my way.

I'm not real close to starting HRT and at times get caught in the thoughts of what kind of woman can an older man become. Your pictures show clearly that we can become happy and who we truly are.

While I worry about my individual facial features and don't have the money for FFS, I think what I need most is the courage to move ahead. You've given me some much needed encouragement!

As impatient as I am now, the fact that you reflect on the changes you see over the last six months reminds me that the process will not be quick and that I need to focus on more than just the external changes.

Hi Older.
I know quite a few older transitioners who are just beginning the journey, and one is 72.  They all have the same shaky feet and feel just like you do now.  I'll confess, when began transition and HRT there was a rush of joy, but a lot of tears and fear about appearance.  I think it's universal in us older girls.

One thing that helped me was knowing that our features become more androgynous as we age, and there's a bit of feminizing that naturally occurs.  Yes, it's not a big change, but it made some of my mother's features more visable in the face I saw in the mirror.  Of course it still took a long time to get where I am, and there was a lot of learning what looked right for me.  And that education just keeps going on.

Estrogen helped hair growth just a little, but Finasteride was the real fertalizer.  For me it's still all about hats, caps, a couple scarfs, and yes, more hats.  There's also some experiments with hair style, but I always fall back on what I know best.  Unfortunately as we get older our hair also takes a lot longer to grow.  ???

When I first considered transition a girl here on Susan's said.  Add a little somethings to yourself.  And then add something else, then something else ... , and one day you'll suddenly find you've transitioned.  She was right.  Only wish I could remember her name.   :)

As my transition progressed I left Susan's for short periods, but once in a while I find a need to visit for a month or two.  But if you ever want to talk send me a PM and it'll notify my email.

Take care lady.  And do what you must, whether it's transition or not.  At least you're here talking about it, and learning about yourself.

Kathy

Happy?  Oh yes, almost always.  But I still need some sort of trouble in life just to have something to worry about.
