Hi everybody,

I just got my neck done with IPL, reason being it is cheaper right now to do my neck and I want to see the results first before doing my face. The photos are 20 mins after the IPL and it still stings... is it normal and it is always this red afterwards :(

The lady I spoke to was very pretty and nice about doing it. She said she was going to put it to the highest setting to zap it all better as it will mean less zaps over time... and it stung and still does. I am such a big girl at times!

It will take about two weeks to notice a difference. You look like a good candidate so hopefully you get a good result. Laser did nothing for my face and neck.

You're not a big girl, you're a young lady.

Ok I would get my whole face and neck done at the same time. Sometimes I would be fine in about an hour, other times the next day I would still feel like I had a mild sunburn. Redness how long I stay red depends on how much water I've been drinking and can vary per session.

I started seeing results after my second or third session so don't be dissapointed if you don't see results tomorrow. Good luck and wait untill you try the face and get to the upper lip :icon_yikes:

Yeah its standard to go through that redness with these forms of hair removal. Grab an ice pack or somethin cold to keep that area cool and help ease the swelling. Also make sure to keep that area moisturized too.

Idk if you know this or not but Ipl doesn't work well for coarse bead removal since its not that powerful in comparison to laser. So if you're looking to get the most out of your budget just go with laser instead, ipl will take longer to see results since its not as powerful.

I had heard IPL was one of those things that it will either work or it will not. I have only really developed facial hair in my late twenties, I am in my early thirties now. So I am hoping it works. The girl that did it put it to the second highest setting and stated if noting changes by the third session she will give me back a third of the cash I spent. In terms of laser there is none for 560kms from where I live only this one IPL salon. So here is hoping and cheers for the advice.

Heh, thanks.  :D
I will wait for after the three neck sessions I booked and if it is doing anything I will go full face. I have not told the girl why I am doing it as its a small community and very judgmental, but I think she will be open to it as she stated and I quote, "Lets just see how your neck goes and if you like we could do your face. And do you think your wife will be sad to see it go, or will she be fine?." I explained I had no wife and just -really- hated facial hair. Then she smiled and added, "Lots of guys get it -ALL- removed now a days, so if you like we can do that when you are more comfortable." I am not sure what she meant as I am the first guy she has had that wants hair removed that is not a back or chest to go to the salon?

In terms of the results thus far. The redness was gone in a few hours thankfully and the sting was gone by this morning. I just need to keep sunscreen on my face and neck now. I bought some aloe Vera for my neck also for after the next session.  I might even look into a numbing cream if I can find one.

I found my neck was more sensitive and so went a little bit red but was gone the next day. It's natural for it to feel warm, bit like sunburn. I bought some natural Aloe Vera gel, and keep it in the fridge. After your treatment put in on and it will both south and cool the area.

I just had a shave ouch and there are a few small red strips now, hope it settles. And yes I put it in the fridge and just used a bit on it after I shaved --felt good-- heh!

This is the 24 hour mark, does it look ok or not.. I am a worrier with this kind of thing. The photos are 5 mins after I shaved. Curse my ultra sensitive skin, I swear everything irritates it :(

Looking at those pics I don't think you have anything to worry about. I get red bumps for about 5 or 6 days after my IPL then it goes down, a couple of days after that it's all smooth and another couple of days the hair starts coming out with the razor! You will be grinning from ear to ear the first time you get a totally clear face!

p.s. You will get less irritation if you skip shaving for a few days.

I thought you were meant to wait at least two to three days before shaving?

The clinic I went to told me to wait till the redness went down but I couldn't resist, after all I hate being rough shaven. My face felt like it was on fire for about 2 days after I tried to shave too soon.

I hate hair full stop it is one of my mega triggers so I could not handle it. But perhaps it would be wise to hold of an extra day next time as it does sting :-\

You could damage your skin if you shave too soon so it would probably be for the better to let it heal first.

The laser has blasted off the upper layer of skin, so I'd imagine shaving would be even more sensitive than usual.

My IPL place did tell me to wait at least a couple of days. After having IPL on Saturday, I hate facial hair that much I give it until Monday morning and shave.nseems to be long enough and don't get any problems.

You may of been the first guy to walk through her door wanting their beard remove, but get a few people together who don't know each other that work in the same industry and some talk will revolve around shop. So while in your town the guys maybe getting their chests and backs done, it could be different around the state.

The place I use didn't say anything against it when I asked (I prefer to be absolutely clean shaven for work).

My morning ritual was warm to hot shower, sensitive shaving gel and a fresh razor with a light touch.  It probably helps that I've been shaving in the shower without a mirror since I started, so this is something I can do by touch alone.

Oh and I'm still as pale as when I started. I did use sunscreen and a laser aid everyday for a week afterwards. Nowadays I just wear sunscreen when I go outside

One week later and I can now shave thankfully, but no changes in hair density or volume. I seen two weeks was mentioned, is that when I will noticed it thin out or will it take several treatments to notice anything at all. Because I have only enough for two more zaps currently 6 weeks apart and I am praying I will see results of some sort each session to encourage me on to the rest of the face. In theory once I see results I will book in more for the neck and face, but it will be two months away.

From memory I saw something after the second session, by the third definitely BUT it was only faint patches of less hair here and there. Or a thinning I wouldn't feel like I needed a shave again that night

Today is 2 weeks and one day since I had my -FIRST- IPL on my neck done and I have 4 clear strips. It is somewhat creepy as I can see hairs below the surface still but they have not grown out and there is almost no shadow there. The other parts of my neck grew normally with a few milometers of coarse hair, excluding these strips. So I am hoping that this is a positive sign that it will work for me. Although it looks odd as its a bit patchy now with shadow sections, non shadow intense sections!
