Hello all, I hope everyone is doing okay! I am wanting to start transitioning after waiting years to turn 18 but being fresh on my own I don't have much money.  I want to start Hrt asap, because it literally gets harder every day knowing that I'm getting manlier. I know the norm is to go through a therapist and what not but that sounds expensive and time consuming, basically is there a faster cheaper way to transition? Please help or offer advice!

Hi Maekara, Welcome to Susan's.

It is possible to start HRT based on informed consent. Seeing a therapist is still a good idea and if you want SRS it will be necessary. If there is a planned parenthood near you, they may be able to help. We could give you more information if we knew, in general, where you are.

Here are some site rules and answers to often asked questions for you to read.

Have a look around the site and you may just find some new friends and people who are or have been the same place you are now.

Awesome thank you, just curious and sorry for not knowing everything well, but does going through planned parenthood not cost as much money? I just really want to start hormones asap. I also don't think my areas Planned parenthood offers that.

Welcome to Susans.  Like many of us you want to start hrt as soon as possible.  I strongly recommend that you see a good gender therapist and hopefully a good endocrinologist.  Gender dysphoria can often coexist with other issues and each issue needs to be addressed.  Cross sex hormones are important, but they can also be very dangerous.  Avoid the temptation to self medicate.  Your long term health and well being are more important than initial speed.

Safe travels

Planned parenthood works on a sliding scale so your costs are dependent on your income. I know some do offer it which is why I suggested checking with them.

Thanks everyone, I called and emailed several therapists and medical places today with no real results. I'm determined as ever though,  I just wish it could be easier I suppose :(
