"A U.S. Marine was being held Monday on a warship after the slaying of a transgender woman in the Philippines."

This was on my local news today. The marine is from a base near me. It was disappointing to say the least to read the comments about who could blame him and all the hate towards trans people in general.

Rule #1- don't read the comments.
Rule #2- DON'T READ THE COMMENTS!!!

The people who comment on these things are the dregs of humanity with nothing better to do than to spew hatred and bitterness toward the world they blame for them being losers and middle-aged virgins that still live in their parents' basements amongst a pile of unlaundered spank socks and porn.   My guess is that most of these people are too cowardly to air their venom out in public and the remainder will end up transitioning after they get over their own denial and self-loathing.

These comments are why I was surprised that people were surprised when I posted that trans panic defense news story.

Yeah but if you can keep your cool and stay calm and just mess with them, they really show their stupidity. Just keep hitting them without getting mad or angry or taking things personally, wow, that is fun. >:-) Eventually, their posts start making no sense at all and then their stupid shows.

Am I missing something? The story was very short. There was nothing in there that indicated that her gender identity had anything to do with the murder. Cis women get murdered all the time by men, so it seems like jumping to conclusions to assume this is rage of any kind.

Also the page referenced above has no comments. Were they removed, or is there some special way to get at them?
Have you read my short story The Eve of Triumph?

Morbid curiosity made me look for the comments, they must have been removed...

I first saw the story on a local tv station's facebook and that's where the comments are. Also, there was more to the story that is not in that article but can be found elsewhere.

I found the story on a general Navy news site.  There are five Navy ships staying in Subic Bay until this is resolved - so DOD is for sure taking this seriously.  There were comments on that news site as well, but they are moderated so not as vile as most news sites.  One comment did point out that murder is murder.  That says it all.

Yeah but this isn't just a crime or murder though. This is an international incident. I was overseas in the military to know that international incidents are really handled with the utmost care. Yeah it was a crime and yeah it was a murder and now the Navy is involved probably trying to get him punished under the UCMJ and Court Marshall  instead of the local punishment. Personally I hope the Philippine justice system gets him and he spends the rest of his life in a Philippine prison, which may turn out not to be too long of a life he has left.

Reading the details of the crime it sure sounds like "Trans* Rage."  That leaves me with zero sympathy.  The crime was commited in the Philippines, so he should be tried there.  That may be harsh, but so it is.

In the "old days" when the Navy had a continuous presence in the Philippines there were measures to ensure Sailors/Marines going ashore knew what to expect and knew better than to act out in a different country.  Now that we are there on an infrequent "hit or miss" basis that seems to have been lost.

However, my bottom line is: murder is murder.

That certainly isn't the atmosphere now.  Now the Philippines are the highlight port call of a WESTPAC deployment because of the anything goes atmosphere.  That goes from an E-1 all the way up to an O-5.

My Brother-in-law is on the same ship as this guy. I think he just needs to be hanged, plain and simple. So that the next one who wants to kill a an innocent civilian will know what awaits him if he does. I'm sick and tired of punks like him who just give America a bad image.

Since this story keeps popping up on my page feed on fb due to a lot of local coverage being near the base he's from, there has sadly been a lot of support for the guy in the comments on fb, but there has also been those that are against murder, no matter who it is. This kind of thing does show why its important to not hide who you are from someone you may want to have intimate relations with as you never know how someone will react to it after any intimacy. Its wrong and messed up, but its life for us, sometimes, quite literally.

I must admit, I do this too.. Its great stress therapy.. You just have to realize they are haters, and it's not hard to make them so furious they probably start throwing dishes across the room.. Lol.

OK, I've read this story from several sources now over the last few days.

One thing that is really pissing me off is that the word "transgender" appears in every one of the headlines.

Every. Damned. One.

A US Marine committed murder in a foreign country.  The fact that the victim was transgender is irrelevant, and only serves to sensationalize this tragic international incident.

Replace the word "transgender" with other irrelevent details, like her age, race, height or weight and well, you get my point.

OH yeah. I love making them really get worked up. It does seem the cooler and nicer you are to them the more POed they get. It just kills me. If it does them too, Oh well. ??? Most of them with Cheetoh's stains on their T shirts, sitting in the Mamma's basements secretly attracted to the ones they are hating on. I love getting them worked up. >:-)

I really hate to say it but she was transgendered Jill. She was still a human being too. Some idiots may justify the transgender part of her being killed, but more may sympathize with her being murdered with no relation to her being transgendered. I'm transgendered. I'm transgendered and I'm transgendered. Does that make me any less human? Does that make me more deserving to be murdered? Yes to some wierdos in society it does but to most people it don't.

When I was in Korea in the early 90's there was a club where the bargirls were trans. I knew the Mama San that owned the club 250 some odd miles away. I was in Busan or Pusan ( Ok Barbie, don't throw stuff at me OK? ). After it made the Stars and Stripes Newspaper, Mama San told me that business picked up at that club even though it was off limits to US military personelle.??? The Military personelle went there more often. Off limits, yeah, right. Only for career military. I just had to see myself and all I got to say is Oh My Freakin' Gawd. I just had to see for myself, off limits or not. Wow these girls were beautiful. Who cares what they had? Apparently not a whole lot of other military personelle. Even some higher ranking even. :o

Same way with Whataburger in El Paso Tx. That was supposed top be really bad for military and off limits. But I like Whataburger and I just had to see for myself. If someone killed me so what? Beat me to death, so what? Shoot me, I would put grab the firearm and put it right against my forehead and tell them to pull the trigger. No big loss. Been there, done that and begged for it between the eyes but close enough to have blood on them too. Wow what chicken crap. :-\ ???
