Hi everyone,

It's my pleasure to meet all of you...  :-*

My legal name is Jessica Leigh Potthast.  I'm 41, and I'm a M2F pre-op transsexual.

I've known I should have been born with a female exterior to match my female brain since kindergarten; when I was just six years old.  At age eleven, my parents denied I had a problem and dismissed me when they caught me wearing women's clothing and shaving my underarms and legs; even though I implored them to help me. I went on to try to forge a typical masculine lifestyle as best I could; with marriage, a house, a child, and a well-paying career. As we all know; that only gets you by for so long, until the stress and depression build up to the result of a nervous breakdown and subsequent suicide attempts.

On November 1, 2005, I sat up all night with my wife and told her everything from start to finish. To this day, she has been a dedicated supporter and one of my greatest strengths.  By January, I had my depression under control, and was seeing a renown psychologist every other week.

I've gone through the gamut of all the typical family hardships a transgendered woman usually faces; being ostracized by my male siblings and father, as well as half my so-called "friends" who 'had a hard time with it'. I've been rejected time and time again for gainful employment after background checks revealed I was previously of the opposite gender. GID has also destroyed my marriage and my career.

I've been on HRT for over 1.5 years, I've been working regularly at various temp jobs through two employment agencies I'm now afiliated with (that know me as a transsexual woman), and I'll have completed RLE/RLT at year-end.

I am currently researching surgeons in order to set a date in early to mid 2008 for SRS.

Sincerely,
Jessica Leigh Potthast
