I'm  slowly coming out as trans . I'm realizing that I can't really pick and choose who I'm out to like I did as a queer cis girl (unless I pass which I don't). So I'll have to learn to deal with stupid people. how do you do that?

Unfortunately there's no cure for stupid.  I can't vaporize them, so I just try to avoid and ignore.

Word.

And then to make myself feel better, I'll usually vent by ripping them in a msg to a friend. :)

Having just finished my first violence assesment I can honestly say that avoiding them is by far a better choice, I try to be very careful about where I go and how long I stay but there are so many unpredictable situations that it is something to be aware of and understand that it is hard to defend your position when things get out of control
one day, one step, with grace it will be forward today

Just live your life, true to yourself, knowing you're doing the best you can and moving forward. Don't be concerned with people who want to knock you for the initiative you're taking that they're jealous of, or whatever else. No matter what we do in life, there will be detractors, haters, people who either don't understand or don't want to understand.

In my opinion, the best thing any of us can do is live our lives showing others that being ignorant, or hateful and wilfully malicious actions are both futile and irrelevant. Be the way you want the world to be. Whether others follow suit... at least you can sleep at night.

Let stupid people deal with themselves. Just live your life.

Above all... remember: you are beautiful, you are valuable, and you have a shining spark of magnificence within you. Don't let anyone take that from you. Embrace who you are. <3

That being said... I do my best to avoid them.

I'm a teacher. My job is to educate the uneducated. I take it seriously. When I meet someone who is uninformed about trans stuff, I do my best to inform them. Sometimes I succeed, sometimes not, but I always try.

Because if we don't educate people about us no one will.
Have you read my short story The Eve of Triumph?

I second the notion! Unfortunately there are far to many ignorant people in this world!
