I know. I thought it was about protecting the flock from outsiders too. I figured that out quick. The branding marks only sting if you move or think about them, by the way.  >:-)

Apparently the branding irons and whips are kept in a cupboard with a sign on it saying "Moderatrix". I've never opened it myself... too many strange noises coming from it.
