I knew cisguys who could have tried out for ZZ Top in the 8th grade and know cisguys in their 50s now who barely have anything to shave.  It's another one of those YMMV things.  I had nothing to shave until I was like 15-16 and didn't have to do it every day until I was in my 20s. I couldn't even grow a 'stache to save my life until I was in my mid-30s.  Look at Clayton Kershaw of the LA Dodgers.  Nobody doubts his masculinity and at 25 he still has little more than a chinstrap.

It all boils down to genetics.

A beard is definitely NOT what makes you a man, and I wouldn't worry about that.  Good razors are expensive anyway.

Interestingly, if you look online it's easy to find posts by cis guys going through beard anxiety too. Not just teenagers. Plenty of men in mid to late 20s.

Guess I jumped ship before that was a thing!  I still have my handy-dandy Panasonic electric wet/dry for the tiny bit that's left, but that sucker was pricey!

I started 1/4 dose on 9/9/14 and had some longer peach fuzz from the sideburns heading downwards pretty quickly (interestingly).  Since I have never shaved before I already had the peach fuzz women have, so I decided it would be hard to tell what was what.  Plus, I have heard people say that when you are trying to pass, if you still have the female peach fuzz you should shave it, or you actually have a greater chance of being misgendered.  So, with those two things in mind, I decided to shave my face last week.  It was kind of fun using the shaving cream with the new double edge razor I purchased.  However, I also thought about how it will get annoying when eventually I may have to do it daily for the rest of my life.  I guess at that point I will switch to an electric razor!

Both my father and my mother's sides can grow beards well, so hopefully I will have the option to have facial hair.

I've only got a few chin hairs and some somewhat noticeable side burns and I'm 6 and a half months on Testosterone. My Girlfriend didn't start actively noticing them until 6 months. What matters is that my voice has deepened, my face has slimmed down and my hair line looks cis. I'm hardly ever misgendered and if I am they quickly correct themselves.

A good diet, rubbing your face daily, exercise, and getting enough sleep should help out. Start a Paleo diet and work out! I want a full werewolf beard just as much as any other trans guy but, yes it's gonna take some time. Reiteration gets old but MOST trans dudes don't see their facial hair thickening until the 12 month point. Hell I even rub biotin shampoo all over my face.

I'm 5 months on T and I get a mustache, and like a light goatee beard lol its weird. I usually shave it every two weeks though for my job. Not a lot that you would be like great beard man. Can't wait for it to really grow in. I think it also depends on genetics.

one week on t and i have multiple chin hairs, my sideburn hairs are showing up, and my mustache is visible.

i think ultimately it comes down to genetics.. i'm hairy beyond belief, so i knew it'd happen quite quickly. don't give up

In all seriousness, I didn't have any facial hair until I was..eh...17?  Some guy's grow it early, others late.  Not sure what the factors are in for the body to decide it's time to grow beard hair.  I know it sounds silly, but if you tell yourself that you're growing your beard hair all the time, and tell yourself 'mmmm maybe i feel a stubbie?'...... it will help!!! The mind works wonders when you are confident   Hang in there sweetie

6 months and nothing but peach fuzz. And it's so frustrating.

I'm at almost 6 months on a low dose, and I've had some dark hairs on my upper lip (and one strange fast growing one that just sticks out of my cheek on one side) since about month 3. They're not thick at all so they're not very noticeable when I forget to shave even though they're dark like my head hair. Everywhere else is still peach fuzz. Personally I'm rather indifferent to facial hair, but I can see why it would make you feel impatient. Just give it time!

If it helps, I'm 2.5 years in and only just now getting noticeable growth. Not everyone has facial hair in the first year. Now that its coming, it's coming but I had nothing until maybe 6 months ago.

5+/- years, I'm still waiting for a mature beard, or even a touch of sideburns.

So many different responses wow.. I noticed a few sideburn hairs the past few weeks but that's it. I'm trying so hard to practice patience..

I noticed a few dark chin hairs within the first few months. Now at about a year and a few months I have some noticeable chin hair and mustache, and I'm getting some neck beard and my sideburns seem to be just starting to grow in a bit. I am growing it out for November so I'll see how it is in a couple of weeks, since it's only been just over a week since I last shaved. It's definitely filled in just since I last grew it out a few months ago; although by no means is it a 'mature' beard or anything, haha. Still just have peach fuzz on my cheeks.

Almost two years on T and this is all I can manage to grow in a month. :DI'm still way too attached to it, I don't want to shave it off. xD

So yeah, it can take a good while but good things are worth waiting for, right?

About a year. I'm shaving daily, and actually need to. It's all genetic definitely, though my father has never grown a beard, my grandfather did. I'm looking a lot more like my maternal grandfather than anyone on my father's side.
