I made a mistake asking for support for pretty women. I didn't get how it could come off wrong, but now I get it in droves thanks to that girl on BET. People online can't tell who's a liar about their looks, who over exaggerates, who is arrogant, who is humble, or who lies about situations they were in. If I'm consistent I think others will get to know me for me and not for things I've said that have been read wrong.
Hi, Rommie,
Thank you very much for sharing your epiphany with us. Sounds like that "Date From Hell" lived u0p to its expectations.
Self-confidence is something that we carry inside and the world sees it on the outside. We need not talk about it because we have it and we're cool.
Sometimes we need to remind ourselves that we are just fine and we don't need anyone else to say so. I've used positive affirmation statements to do just that. I calibrated them to pleasing myself sufficiently to feel good anyplace, anytime. There is a book that I can recommend, "What to Say When You Talk to Yourself." I believe that the author is Shad Helmstetter.
Self-confidence and humility go hand-in-hand. Colombo was humble and good at what he did. He was always in control but no one ever suspected that he could do it. If you watch Star Trek Voyager, note the character, Mr. Neelix. He is humility to the n
th power. That poor guy has caught some totally undeserved crap from others on that show but his character has supreme self confidence because he remains humble and he can and does forgive hurts.
I might be as plain as a mud fence but that doesn't bother me. I was told that Abe Lincoln wrote this:
As for looks I know I'm no star.
There are others more pretty by far.
But my face, I don't mind it because I'm behind it.
It's the people in front that I jar!
Be happy and know that you can turn heads without resorting to anything besides being yourself. Humility is wonderful because if you learn what it is and live in humility, you can't get knocked on your ass by anyone. You need not lift yourself up, either. Others will see you and do it for you. Lastly, learn not to take yourself too seriously. When I learned that, the laughs in my life were more and more satisfying.
Enjoy your life, Rommie! You've earned it!
