How long did you wait before drinking alcohol?

My friends are the type to go out and get drunk nearly every weekend and I was ok with being the sober one at first, but now I feel like I'm just missing out! I was going to wait until I was 3 months post op before drinking just to be safe, but what do you think? I'm almost 2 months post op at the moment. When did you start drinking alcohol again? Would one night hurt anything? I'm not going to risk it tho  :-\

I think I gave it a month, but that was only one drink or so (not a "night out" where I may have 3-4).  I don't even remember reading anywhere that you shouldn't drink, it just made good sense to me when it came to healing.

Once you're off pain meds, I can't think of any reason not to drink. Don't get drunk, obviously, but I can't imagine a night out with friends having a couple drinks would hurt anything.
The more I know, the more I know I don't know.

I think that it makes sense to wait til your nipples heal, which would be about a month (if you are talking DI here). Alcohol would have a depressing action on healing. OTOH, 1-2 drinks after you are off pain meds. Perhaps ask the doctor here.

I'm with Jay here.  I never drink after surgery until doc gives me the green light.  Never mix painkillers with alcohol.

I had a glass of wine here and there about a week post-op.  I don't "get drunk", though - so I'd probably suggest you take the other guys' advice on that.

Thanks for the advice, I am trying hard to be careful but my nipples really are taking their time to heal. Its just so frustrating  :( I want to do so many things that I cant do right now haha

If your healing seems delayed, than I would agree with not drinking alcohol.  Make sure you are drinking lots of water though!
