Just in case anyone has any stories about before the time they figured out who they were inside, and they have any stories about it!

So this one time, I was in elementary school, and I was heading home from California this one day and my family stopped by this place to get beef jerky and a couple of other stuff for the open road, and me and my cousins like the goofballs we were tried to prank each other with the spicy beef jerky flavors, and I was wearing this blue beanie that I had at the time, and I had some of my hair sticking out of the back of the beanie and it made me look like a girl, and the guy that works there asked me if I was a girl or a boy, and at that moment I felt kind of happy but at the same time confused because of it, because I was a "boy" at that time and I didn't know what it meant so I rolled with it for the time being until summer of last year when I came out to myself and a few friends.

So yeah, there's one of my many stories about life before the enlightenment.
Seventeen and strung out on confusion,
Seventeen and coming clean for the first time,
no mom and dad will never understand,
what's happening to me.

I kept having people either tell me or insinuate that I was a lesbian or bi. I am bi, but this was before I showed any outward interest in girls and was openly attracted to guys. It as a bit confusing, but I guess they were picking up on something.
Around the time puberty was starting, I thought that I'd somehow turn out to be at least part boy. I hoped I would turn out to be some biological anomaly. (I didn't know about intersex people at the time. I also don't mean to offend anyone by saying that I used to hope I was so I could be at least part boy.)
One time, I was looking around google to see if I could find any information about how I was feeling. I came across penis envy and, going by just that term, I was excited because I thought I had finally found something to explain it and that I wasn't the only one. Then I read the description and it was a whole lot of NOPE.

when i was younger i was in the "EMO style" and i dyed my hair red, black, and all colors you can imagine. and i used black eye makeup and piercings. i didn't even know that i was a girl then. the younger kids asked me if i was a boy or a girl and then i got tired of it and said i was a girl. and my brother used to say i looked like a girl and some random other people too.

Thatoneguyyouknow

Had a strange conversation with this boy on the bus who wanted to know why I had such a deep voice for a "girl". Just told him I was made that way.

Another werid story is when my mother was sleep talking and mumbled something about me being a lesbian even tho there was no proof that I did or that I showed it. I thought it was funny she knew somehow I was going to be with a girl.

When I was about 12 (so.. wow, 20 years ago now!) I was in a weekend kids theatre group and there weren't enough guys in the older age group to fill all the male roles in the end of year show, so they asked if any of the girls wanted basically the biggest part in the whole play. I honestly was baffled when I was not only the only one who stepped up, but the only one who didn't actively take a step back. Loved every second of it, felt totally natural. They didn't genderbend the role or anything, just shoved my hair up under a hat. That was probably the last time I really looked remotely androgynous before puberty gave me Double Ds...  :-\

My dad went to college later in his life than most and he had to do writing assignments, some of which were short stories.

I read some of them and they were about our family except that my mom was stay at home, more obedient and I was a studious girl. Yep so my dad wrote short stories with me as a girl. Who woulda thought.
