Hey all,
I bumped into this video and wanted to ask the current residents of the forums what they thought of it. I recently passed it to my mom, thinking it a passable summary of the complexities of gender and sexuality.
I sent it her way because my mom is a bit odd and could use some education, she doesn't really care about me being trans provided I preserve my reproductive capabilities in some form (childishly easy with male gametes), but also seeks bonus points on me finding someone who I can biologically reproduce with that is "worthy", thus she is less than thrilled by egg donations and surrogates, though she admits that's purely an engineering and incentives problem. Fortunately, I'm pretty comfortably bisexual so it's kind of a coin toss as to whether I'll end up with someone with access to female gametes, not that, and I have been very explicit about this, I would torpedo any relationship where my partner did not have access to female gametes, which Mom fully realizes is an honorable train of thought and accepts.
Okay, so I think you can see that she and I have a somewhat odd relationship. I love her a bunch, but she has very specific utilitarian priorities. Fortunately if you can handle honesty she's very easy to talk to. Even if she is rooting for me to become a lesbian...
That was a bit of a sidetrack, sorry. So what do you think about the educational value of the video above?
