To shave or not to shave?

So lately I've been growing my mustache out more then usual (currently staying with my dad and he doesn't know about me being ftm). So since living with him, I 've kept my 'stache down so not hear any comments from him. ( Really don't want to be kicked out if he finds out.) Anyways, I've started getting lazy about trying to keep completely on top of it, plus I feel comfortable with it and more masculine when it does grow out. Well, lately my 'stache has gotten to the point I can constantly feel it on my upper lip .At my job there are these electric face hair trimmers for men and every time I look at them I get that urge of wanting to shave my mustache and under lip hair, but letting it grow back thicker.

My question is should I start shaving my face and let it get thicker? Or will it be weird since I'm still Pre- T with a not so much masculine face (my gf says my face looks androgynous) and still not sure if T is even going to happen at this point?  (I of course will wait till I move out of my dad's place if I do start to shave)

Sorry I keep asking stuff. Don't have any transguys around me to ask this stuff. : (

Once you start shaving, you're in it for life. If I were you, I'd just commit to it and enjoy the flavor saver!

I'm not sure that shaving will make it thicker. I say do what you like with it. You could have it removed.

Shaving does not actually make your hair grow back faster.

Also, pre-HRT moustache and post-HRT moustache are quite different.  The texture is likely going to be much coarser after you start testosterone.  Shaving isn't going to make you have the intense stache that hormones probably will over the course of months or years.

So you can shave or not shave, whichever makes you feel better personally.  I doubt your dad is going to notice, and shaving is not a dead giveaway that you are trans.  Some cis women shave their faces and sometimes get lazy about keeping up with it (I know some who have to do this) so if you have to pretend you are a cis woman with your dad for safety reasons, you should still be in the clear.

Thanks for the replies. I wasn't quite sure if it would grow coarser or not. Was just basing it off that when I had to shave my legs when I was younger it grew back coarser.

It's a myth. I've heard it repeated here. My mom used to say it. However, it changed the angle of the hair. So that wherever it is it may seem like it has a different texture. I sort of like the texture, as it feels more masculine.

Ah, I understand. Thanks Aleon. : )

I think I might just shave just to see what happens I guess. But also the act of shaving would help me to feel more masculine too. Appreciate the comments everyone.
