Suggestion to Staff

Would it be a good idea for the Staff to display contact information either in their avatars or signature area or perhaps on the Staff list? I get email from members, usually new and not yet able to send messages through the PM system asking for help. Usually the email starts with "I'm glad your address was in your signature" While I don't at all mind forwarding messages, it would be nice if they could contact a Staff member directly.

I'd just suggest that the PM restriction be lifted in the case of contacting staff members, but I don't know if that's possible.
  •

Devlyn

That's a good idea too, thanks!

Edit to add: Although one of the nicest emails I ever got came from someone who used Susan's but never made an account. They wrote to thank me for something that meant a lot to them.

Our emails are listed in our profile when they click on our forum name.

I think that is only visible to us, the email field in our profile. I think by default the email is hidden from members unless it is specified to share it publicly. Susan/Cindy may correct me if I'm wrong

It does seem like a nice idea. Perhaps I will set up a secondary email address for this if the other mods think it is a good idea as well.

Hmmm!

Did not cross my mind on that Jenny. I know it works for us being I use it all the time to email newbies.

My email here is only for Susan's.

I know for me the little envelope mail icon works under my avatar.

Have to see where can put it now. Lol!

Every Moderator can  get a susans.org email and display that. Pretty simple solution.
  •

Devlyn

Bottom line, people who can't contact you guys come to me on a regular basis.

I like that idea! If Susan is down then so am I :)

Staff were the first people I exchanged PMs with after I was able to, when I first joined. I needed someone to talk to, and I felt a little more comfortable around them than the average forum user.

I've had yet another member contact me with a Staff question and they don't know how to reach the active Staff. Who wants to take care of it? Here's their message, edited for privacy:

Hi, I'd be interested in helping w the resource pages sometime.  I didn't see how to reach the staff last time so I did the post.  The had my kidney problem for the last month.  I'm a disabled vet on tons of meds then pile hormones on top of it.  Could you please point me in a direction.   Once I start up again I would love to help as I do my research.  I'm using hormone therapy to save my life.  I come across great documentation but I only keep my quick notes since I have a short memory from.........

I've been here for a number of years, and just now noticed it.  I saw Devlyn's email in his signature right away.
...I think for most of us it is a futile effort to try and put this genie back in the bottle once she has tasted freedom...

With a little bit of knowledge of php, or maybe there is a setting in this forum software to allow any member to PM certain groups (staff) only... it is possible :)

Why not put such a link at the top of the forum pages where it would be easy to locate? Most websites have a "contact us" link at the top of their web pages that can be accessed regardless of whether or not you are logged into the site.
