I was talking with a friend today about a situation. I have a nine year old niece that I've been with since the day she was born, so she pretty much knows all about me. Now my sister {her mother} feels that I should not expose her to my life style as a transgender because she's afraid of what it will do to her. I personally don't see it changing her  by me becoming a woman instead of remaining a man.

If anything it will probably make her more sensitive and tolerant of the differences we share in this world. NOW WE WOULDN'T WANT THAT!!!!! LOL.

I agree with you on your thoughts Pansy. It would make her more sensitive and tolerant, but my sister is being so arrogant towards my situation that at times I jsut want to crawl into a dark corner and cry.

Being transgender is not a lifestyle.   Your sister is ignorant, bigoted and could stand to be educated in the matter.  At very least, you do not have to take her abuse.

That's really unfortunate, for her, shes going to miss out on a someday well rounded happy and beautiful person. Just my opinion.

I know that being transgender is not a lifestyle, just quoting her, but I've tried to educate her on the subject but it's useless. It's like talking to a wall. Just like my mom's known since 1994 that I'm transgender and she still refuses to comprehend anything I tell her. Eventually I'll just walk right out of their lives and I really won't care. There'll be no turning back and I'll be gone like a dream before the dawn.

Thank you Pansy.  You're absolutely right. I've been maturing as a wonderful young woman and they are so blind to see it because of their ignorance.
