Same in Australia, 18. We will put children and adolescents on puberty blockers from the beginning of puberty and give them HRT at 16 if required. When they reach legal age of majority (18) they can then be offered surgery if so desired.

I had to fight in court just to get blockers, under a court order I couldn't start HRT until the morning of my 18th.
I'm not sure if that's changed here, but hopefully it has

In Australia we fought and had the law changed. In children who have gender identification issues with the support of their parents and their medics it costs then nothing (financially) to go onto blockers. We are now changing the Law to allow 16 yr olds take HRT without going to court. We have fought hard for this and I expect the Law to be changed in the next few weeks.

Without sounding silly; I will not allow kids to go through what I had to go through. I and other activists will keep campaigning until Law allows kids to have freedom to be themselves. My advice? Do the same, campaign, write letters, call politicians and never ever give in.

It has to be court ordered for youth to start HRT in Australia?? Holy cow!!! I would have commit suicide. I started when I was 16 & that was a huge battle on its own with my parents. If I had to go to court for it then I would have been completely screwed & there's a 98% chance I would've killed myself.

No doctor would give me blockers without a court order, mum spoke with a lawyer and off to court we went.
Worst day if my life was walking down Lonsdale St in the CBD with a camera in front of me, we got home that night and our faces were blocked out, I was a wreck that night. 

thanks to the bravery of a lovely friend of mine. Trans* children in Queensland can now get on blockers without a court order. Tis a shame that the decision was made to late for me though

I am a bit curious if they would also give some kind of E analogue to those children as well? Because, well, having T blockers and suchlike is nice cause it prevents the male puberty from kicking in, but... a body needs some kind of sex hormones anyway, cause living for years (till You hit 18) without any is not healthy...
Pretty much just a curiousity on my behalf, because here to my knowledge You wont get even blockers.

At the moment they have to go back to the Family Court at the cost of about $25k. We will have the Law changed as basic Human Rights. I have the Head of the Australin Human Rights commission talking to the Supreme Court.

I feel like they should allow Estrogen therapy before 16. It's beneficial for FtM but less beneficial or MtF.
