Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has successfully accessed their Superanuation Early on Compassionate Grounds in Australia? I'm looking at doing just this for the purpose of paying for FFS.

The process, which is governed by the Department for Human Services in Australia, requires reports from at least two medical professionals, one needs to be a specialist. I have my GP, Plastic Surgeon and Psychiatrist all on board. My Psychiatrist needs the wording we should use in the application. Apparently it needs to be quite specific or in a certain format.

Is anyone able to share what your Psychiatrist or other medical profession used as the wording in an application for the early release of Superanuation for either GRS or FFS?

Umm, it never happened when I worked in Super.. And we weren't trained to handle enquiries for it. Financial Hardship is a possible angle to look at - even if 'imaginary'.

You are able to apply for early release on compassionate grounds for medical treatment.

Provided you meet one of the following:

• life threatening illness or injury
• acute or chronic pain
• acute or chronic mental illness

So I meet the last point  for once, I'm glad Gender Dysphoria is listed in the DSM.

My Gender Dysphoria meets the condition of acute, as its onset was rapid. The condition of chronic is met by the fact it will persist for a long time if left untreated. The treatment for my Gender Dysphoria is Transition. We are applying to meet the costs of Transition.

My Psychiatrist has successfully applied in the past, however he recalls the wording needed to be correct. His filing is terrible and it was painful to watch him try to look for the last letter he wrote applying for early access on medical grounds.

Isn't it just. And I'm a Business Analyst Kelly, so if there's even a fraction of legislation, rules or guidelines I can use, trust me, I'm all over it lol. I did read a post on Susans regarding one of the girls over East accessing for GRS however for the life of me I can't recal who that was

Thankyou Cindy, mwah mwah. So can I request them or does it need to come from him?

It is the professional body, ask your Doc to contact the President for the forms. He will then probably ask me to send them out, I cant do that without his say so.

Ok thanks Cindy, I'll email my Psych tonight. He works in trans health so I would assume he's a member of ANZPATH.

Without giving details have you heard of successful applications going through Cindy?

Not that one in particular, but I have only been secretary for a few months. I know we have got financial help for trans* people who couldn't access care in Australia. I do know we try damn hard, Michelle who was on 4 C tonight is an exec member, we don't give in

I remember a girl from Brisbane who (I think) did this to pay for GRS.  Her name is Jasmine Neuenhaus and she talked about it in a video she put up on YouTube.  Search under her name and it might still be there.  I remember thinking at the time that it was reassuring to know that the option is there if other financing isn't available.

Keep us informed of your result as it is good knowledge for Aussie girls to have.

Edit:  Just looked at the FFS ticker - like I needed reminding!  I am funding my FFS myself but the bottom surgery step may require a bit more creativity!
