Too bad. The Kingston Trio's version was much better!

First song I knew all the words too.  I was totally obsessed with that song.  I remember one time I didn't want to go to my grandmothers because I didn't want to miss it on MTV.  Apparently I had no conception as to the existence of the radio.  Strange song for a 6-7 year old to be obsessed with regardless.

Eva Marie

Telstar - The Tornadoes.

According to wikipedia:

"The record was named after the Telstar communications satellite, which was launched into orbit on 10 July 1962.". It seems quaint that such an event was so exciting that someone wrote a song about it.

Amapola by Jimmy Dorsey's Big Band. I like him & have recorded this song off radio & many more songs. Also around the My fav Big Band, Glenn Miller & Chattanooga Choo Choo. May 11 1941. My Dad introduced me to the Big Band music.

@Eva Marie, is right about Telstar which I remember. I have always been interested in space travel & Astronomy.

@traci_k, actually listening to Rock Around The Clock by Bill Haley & the Comets & 50's rock makes me feel young again. That song & In The Mood by Glenn Miller are ageless & stand the test of time. If you ever hear them played in place to dance people will dance.

I am going to cheat. I should have been this song, just as I am was supposed to be woman. That also didn't pan out.  ;)

The Sound Of Silence.

In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone
'Neath the halo of a street lamp
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence
