Hello,

I am sure this may have been answered before, but I was wondering if it is possible to have a mix of HRT so that you are still able to reproduce but still get all of the benefits of HRT? I believe I will start my mtf transition within the coming year as my inner feelings of femininity are starting to burst at the seams and I feel I will be unable to keep it locked away from friends and relatives much longer. My problem is that I am newly engaged and my fiance and I would like to have kids. She doesn't want to have kids until we are married which will be soon and my mom is very excited for us to have kids as well as I am her only child. No one knows my true self, but they will soon enough. I am aware of the sperm bank option. So I would like to know if it will be possible to start HRT maybe on lower dosage that would permit fertility up until we get married, maybe about 8months, just to get started. It seems that mileage may vary when talking HRT and fertility, but it seems that it is 100% infertility within a year or so. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

TBH, not sure, but your doctor should be able to help you. From what I have heard you need to bank before starting HRT, but again I'm not sure. 5 months in and at this point I don't think I have the ability to bank. I should note that I am at my full dosage now.

Bank before HRT and remember viability is only 100% up to 12 years in storage. Some can conceive after that, but not many. HRT is just one of those things everyone responds to differently. Sperm mobility can be affected as early as 3 months on even low dose HRT.  :)

Thanks JustASeq. I figured that would be the best idea, but I am impatient and haven't went to a doctor yet to start the process. I will soon though and was just looking for some quick info. I have a bunch of questions for the doc when I finally build up enough courage to start the process, but until then I'm trying to learn as much as possible. I know when I finally come out to people they will have many questions and I would like to have some answers on different topics for them. Also so I can provide them with some information so that they understand what my future may or may not entail. Thanks again!!

Interesting, thank you. I will more than likely bank just incase.
