Binding and packing while swimming

Long time no see. :)

I've just finished high school, and I'm about to go away to a beach house with a few friends for a celebration trip (called Schoolies, it's kind of a tradition here). I'm out to all these friends so I'll be able to present male the whole time.

I have a rash vest and long board shorts to swim in. Is it okay to wear an older binder under a rash vest for swimming? And how can I pack? I was thinking I'd get a cheap speedo or briefs to wear under my board shorts and pack in that like normal, do you think that would work?

An old binder under a rash vest is exactly how I bind when swimming. It should be fine, just try to keep the binder as clean as possible when you get out so it lasts longer. But of course if it's old, its life is fading anyways.

As for the packing under board shorts, you could do your idea, or you could also try getting a jockstrap. If you can find one that has a pocket in it, that's even better. I don't know a lot about jocks other than that they're good for packing with, so hopefully someone else can chime in with specific suggestions. As for getting a cheap speedo or briefs, I don't know if you mean brief swimwear or brief underwear, but I'd highly recommend staying with swimwear because it will dry better when you get out of the water.

I am interested in this topic! I think there may be a similar one floating around here somewhere, I remember we were talking about binders and swimming. I think we all unanimously agreed that wearing a binder was fine. If you're going in a pool that's chlorinated/got any harsh chemicals going on, you may want to rinse it as soon as possible after swimming. But for open water I imagine you'd be fine.

I'm more interested in the packing aspect. Were you planning to use a packer, or just to pack it with whatever to create a bulge? I'd worry about the packer degrading being exposed to a lot of water. I'd vote for the speedo/swim briefs though. Never heard of anyone swimming in a jock.

Swim jocks definitely exist! I know because I, uh, sometimes pack in the shower. My old masho is beat to hell, so I'm not worried about degradation. Haven't noticed any, though.

Swim jocks are, functionally, kind of like... buttless budgie-smugglers. OP, I'd look for swim shorts with a jock built in. I bet they exist.

I just used a regular jock strap with a cup pocket. I put the packer in the cup pocket. It works very well and keeps everything where it should be. I have a silicone packer, but haven't heard any issue with cyberskin ones.

Thanks. I don't really have the cash to get a jock at the moment, I bought a cheap speedo and will wear that. Leaving tomorrow!
