The D.C. Council on Tuesday unanimously approved a bill to prohibit LGBT youth from undergoing gay-to-straight conversion therapy.

When signed into law, the District of Columbia will become the third jurisdiction — behind California and New Jersey — to pass legislation protecting LGBT youth from practices that have been determined to cause severe depression and even suicide.

Conversion therapy is a truly despicable thing that had ought to be banned on a nationwide level as far as minors are concerned.   My wife was one of the lawyers who helped get it banned in CA, but there are a lot of other states where it will be more of an uphill battle.  The Bible belt may take decades if this is not done nationwide.
