Greetings,
My best friend of 30+ years (jesus, has it really been that long?) called me on the phone a few months ago with some very serious news. His voice was shaking when I spoke with him, but it wasn't from grief, more from nervousness, perhaps tinged with fear. All the time I've known him, he's been a restless breed, dissatisfied with his life but in ways he could not identify.
But with his heart in his hand, he confessed he's a woman trapped in a man's body.
What could I say? He's my best friend and I love and support him like the brother I've never had. I was surprised, but in that split second of conversation, everything about his life clicked into place, and in an instant I understood what he was going through, and why.
Naturally, he has my complete support.
Although he lives far away from me, we text/talk constantly and he's "come out" (so to speak, not sure the proper term here to use) to some of his other friends, and family and to a one, they've been supportive and welcoming and accepting.
He gave me the link to this site, so that I may learn and perhaps better support him through the difficult changes he will be going through in the months and years to come.
So, anyway, here I am, in support of my friend Wynternight.
Cheers!
