Any guys who have intercourse with cis men worried to death about pregnancy?

I'm 18 and I started T Oct. 2nd this year. My endo put me on a full dose immediately and I had my last (heaviest) period 2 days after that, then never again. I have a cis boyfriend, and for a couple months we were doing it raw. I requested a pregnancy test from my health care provider to make sure it was the T that stopped them, and it was. I've taken multiple at home ones since and we now use condoms, but sex comes with a certain anxiety now that I have no clue when/if I'm ovulating, and that the more obvious pregnancy symptoms (hunger, missed periods) won't give me any kind of heads up if an accident does happen. I talked to a gynecologist about an IUD but he did an ultrasound of my uterus (which is now in atrophy) and said that, while he could insert a Mirena IUD, it would be the worst pain imaginable. Before T I was on the pill, and I definitely felt less anxious during and after sex. The sex also felt better without condoms. I wish there were another birth control option that I could use at this age other than abstinence. I'm not as dysphoric as some guys are about their 'downstairs' because I'm not satisfied with medical advancements at this point to even think of getting a penis, and anal gives me no pleasure. ->-bleeped-<-s are nice, but I like being penetrated. At some point I want to get a hysto, but that's far down the road, and no one would ever dream of giving me one so young to my knowledge.

Right now I use at home pregnancy tests every three to four weeks since I don't have the luxury of knowing when a missed period would be at this point. Two of my cis female friends got pregnant after a condom broke, even after taking an emergency contraceptive on time, which does nothing for my anxiety levels. I also examine the condoms meticulously after each use for small tears. >__>

If there are any Tguys who have gotten pregnant while on hormones, did you guys notice any other symptoms?
Any other guys as paranoid as I am, or am I just a nut?

Are depro shots an option for you. I've heard of a number of trans guys taking them without too much of a problem. Condoms are always a good thing to use. The rate of HIV infection among people 15-30 is extremely high (perhaps nearly 1-7). YOu could perhaps also use a spermicide (foam, gel, lube, etc) with a condom.

I heard the Depo lowers T levels because of the progestin, but I'm not sure. I'll ask my endo about it when I can get in to see her next. My endo said the only reason Mirena wouldn't interfere was because the hormone was localized in the uterus.

I have a cis boyfriend as well. The spermicide is a good idea. I also heard there's an iud that has no hormones in it that can work.

Me and my boyfriend had an accident one time even though we were using condoms. Makes me terrified and not want to do anything because I'm so anxious about that happening again lol. I was such a depressed muck for the next 3 months after taking plan b.

Sounds like he can't use an IUD due to position of the cervix or something like that, vs the type of IUD, per se. I don't think normally it would hurt. I have heard of guys here on depo which is why I would even mention. I *think* you could do a search here for Depo and see what you might find. I know there have been discussions of it.

Spermicide isn't 100% but if you put it with a condom probably going to be about what the pill would be.

Depo provera and T can be taken at the same time. Not sure how it would go for longer than a year though.

Thanks guys. Based on what my doctor said, an IUD will be my last resort if I do decide on it.
I think Spermicide and condoms might cure my anxiety a bit.
Is there a difference between the effectiveness of the different spermicides (foam, sponge, gel, etc)?

I don't believe there's a difference? Just more so with preference. I've gotten spermicide condoms and lube before.

Getting pregnant is about tho worst thing that could happen to any of us.  I know I never want to get pregnant. I want to have a  hysterectomy as soon as I can afford and can find a dr to do it. I am 22 and in school so it will be a few years I think at this point.  I won't want to use any thing that has female hormones in it as they all have bad side effects that I don't want.  i see where getting an IUD after starting T would be painful as the uterus is shrinking then.  I hate having monthly bleeding but at least you know you are not pregnant.

I'm in a similar boat but I don't have as many anxieties about it. We had my husband's "pre" tested for sperm carry and it came back negative (this was years ago) (and each male is different. Some carry live sperm in their pre and others dont)
So we've been using the pull out method for well over 5 years now since I had to stop taking BC due to my bipolar and hormonal issues(long story)
We've also kind of switched up our sexual routine over the years as well. I know I get some anxiety about it but only after an event happens where it would warrant it.
I'd def stick behind the spermicides and you could also try "female" condoms as well and place them next to the cervix ect

I know this is kind of a long way out there? And you may get a hysto done before it happens but in the case you don't, there is a male birthcontrol that's set for market in the next 2 years called vasalgel that looks extremely promising and is entering human trials next year. So it's something to look into in the future.(And they 100% promise it will be as affordable as they can make it since it's privately funded for those reasons)
Husband and I have been following that for the last 2 years ourselves and if I'm unable to get a hysto by the time it comes out, he'll be getting that.
I run a FtM blog where I pour my experiences out for others to read. Check it out!

Sorry to revive an older topic, but this is actually a really good and important question. I've been on Depo-provera for 3 years and, per my doctor, the one-year black box warning is only because Depo-provera will tank your estrogen levels to very low and therefore can cause bone loss because you need either estrogen or testosterone in your blood. So you can be on it for however long, you just have to have a density scan once a year and make sure you get enough calcium. But T also actually increases bone density so this might not even be a problem anyway. It can theoretically lower your testosterone levels slightly but the fact you're on T means those levels should be being monitored already and your dose can be adjusted accordingly. Callen-Lorde actually says explicitly in some of their literature that being on Depo-provera and Testosterone together is perfectly okay. When I started T, I asked them about it and they said it's no problem to continue it and that they often recommend it for trans guys with cis guy partners. So it's definitely worth looking into.
