Hmmmm.

You must have had the same person who set up my home loan.
I had to explain to them what they had to do....

Bankers......

Oh right. I'm one.

Darn bankers... :D
So long and thanks for all the fish

What an amazing thing!

A formal letter of complaint is called for. This is unacceptable.

Hugs Sis, it would have hurt a lot.

I'm going to try the "nice" approach first... but they get one and only one chance to fix it. Then they get the "not nice" approach. Stay tuned.

I can't remember if you have legally changed your gender, Grace.. But if you haven't, CommBank will give you the run around and then tell you to suck wind. I couldn't even get them to issue a card with no title on it..

Ms Grace

Well if they do that they lose a customer. Seriously, WTF?

Thanks Cindy, good to know. Being the largest bank in Oz you'd think the Commonwealth would have it's $#&% together on this.

They've spent too much time sponsoring the cricket to worry about such trivial things as customers!

Of course, the answer to all, ok some, problems is the Ombudsman http://www.fos.org.au may be able to help.

Hope you get them to put it right and offer the requisite grovelling apology!

That totally blows goats, Grace.  I've had the same thing happen to me several times, and having to explain by outing yourself to random strangers EVERY SINGLE TIME completely sucks.   I've noticed that some people that I've had to interact with were umm, less sympathetic than others. (Especially that complete b***h at the LADWP who called me an "it".  I still don't get my bill sent to the proper email address.)

Now if I could only get my name fixed with my endo's office...  (Oh well, at least I don't need him anymore now that I've had my misterectomy.)

Hugs, and I hope this is the only time you have to deal with incompetent twits.

Wow that is pretty dumb of them to do.

Thankfully no titles on my bank cards here, nor credit cards.

Actually I decided to deal with it by going into a different branch and I just said to them I got my card and the details are wrong. Remained good natured, didn't mention anything about gender transition or anything...they were most apologetic, it was corrected in five minutes and I just got my new replacement card today...

Ms Grace Stephanie SURNAME

Wooo! ;D

Based on what Kelly mentioned above I wonder if it would have gone so smoothly had I mentioned I was trans?

I'm shocked Grace.

A competent banker who was helpful.
Stranger things have happened.

I say if you pass there is no need to announce yourself as trans everywhere you go. My one requirement would be dating. I feel its important to let them know early on.

However since I don't pass, its the first thing mentioned in my OK cupid profile.

True, although I needed to do it when I had my details changed in the first instance - while not unpleasant I certainly didn't enjoy having to do it. I was thinking about how to deal with it this time, tell them I had changed gender markers and titles or just go in as woman who had the wrong details on her card. Second option it was!

Hi Grace,
Sorry you had to deal with idiots.  Glad you were treated right by another branch.
It really does come down to the individual you talk with.

Here in the US we have Banks (who would prefer that people just pay them for the privilege of talking with them and are rude if you expect any service) They as an institution do seem to hire the unhelpful to talk with "customers" (or maybe they train them that way to reduce walk ins ]
and "Credit Unions" (originally formed by members as a not for profit institution) that I find much more enjoyable to work with.  I vote with my deposits, treat me rude and I can pull my money and go somewhere else.

Unfortunately, the Great God of the Electron tends not to have any sense.

A member of my TG Support group had a similar experience with her bank after a name change. As a certified Electrical Engineer and oft time programmer all I can say is sometimes bits get stuck.
