Have my first interview in basically 6 years tomorrow. It's for a medical assistant which I did the equivalent of for 5 years in the Army. I'm going as a female to the interview because I basically refuse to work do anything as a guy anymore, but I did apply under my legal name which I haven't been able to change yet. I've brushed up on all my interview questions, what to wear, etc. I'm just concerned on how you handle the obvious a guy applied and a girl's showing up for his interview. Does anyone have experience with this and any advise on how they handled it? The company is a Family Care Practice with 3 Doctors, but it looks like they also have Dental and Behavioral Health in the same building.

No I don't have experience, but I am sure, you will be fine.

Just explain your situation, that you are in transition and plan to change your legal documents soon as well. Emphasize that this has absolutely no impact on your ability and desire to do the best work possible for them.

Thanks, I should probably get some sleep cause I'm sending myself into a panic attack. I think I'm gonna take a little bit extra of my clonazepam tomorrow morning so I don't freak out and I can calmly explain that my transition won't effect my performance, and my experience is closer to that of an LPN or RN thanks to how things work in the Army. I do plan to change my documents it sounds like the process takes a few months in Oklahoma and I just moved here.

Ok so I got home from my interview a little bit ago and I feel it went really well. They didn't really seem to take notice to my gender presentation when I came in which kind of annoyed me, but I'm stuck under the spell of feminine face and short hair. The interview questions I feel like I aced. After they finished their questions they asked me if I had any and I explained my transition and desire to be called Katherine and use female pronouns. I asked a few more about salary etc. and then we seemed to just be talking about random things for 10 minutes. Before I left one of them made sure they got the correct spelling on Katherine to see if I used C or K and if I did anything fancy mid name. They said they had some more interviews this week before I would hear anything back but I got a good vibe.
