Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence now teach theology

'Well, the "Sisters" finally speak.  After receiving Holy Communion from Roman Catholic Archbishop George H. Niederauer on October, 6, 2007 at Most Holy Redeemer Church in San Francisco, the cross-dressing Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence issued a statement on October 17, 2007.'

*giggles* I wonder what the Catholic church has to say about this  ;D.  Thanks very much for posting this article, Katia.  If there is any group of people from the gay community in San Francisco that I adore, those are the Sisters.  They were the only ones who helped me out when someone very dear to me passed away from AIDS in 1988.  I think that everyone should get to know the Sisters, for they rock!

I talked to a member of theirs a while back in myspace chatroom. Paganism room to be exact. She was a very interesting lady.

There are two Catholic churches.  There's the one in Rome, and there's the one in America.  They don't always agree, especially since the one in Rome prefers to have control over the one in America.  The official view of the one in Rome is that ->-bleeped-<- is a mental illness.

The Sisters are truly fabulous! I wish there was an east coast chapter, or perhaps some way one could be an honorary sister.  ;D

Why not go on their website and find out.  You could just email them and talk to whoever the main point of contact is for them. And if worse comes to worse you could find out how to go about starting an east coast chapter.

I used to go to Most Holy Redeemer every Sunday when I lived in Twin Peaks, wow, thanks for posting this, sorry I missed this event. I am very surprised that Father Steve would permit this.

I met a few of the sisters at a Gay Celebration at my drug program. They are truly wonderful people and do great work.

Two of the biggest closet cases in the entire world are the Pope and her right hand man. I could tell you some stories you wouldn't believe or maybe you would.

This would have never been allowed under the previous Archbishop's reign. Talk about conflicted! Apparently, the new Archbishop isn't a self-loathing closeted homosexual. I wonder how many priests are TGs in denial. I mean you do get to wear dresses on Sundays.
