So I'm looking to get some underwear but not sure what to go for...
Should I go for briefs, boxer briefs or boxers?

What's generally more comfortable AND I can store a packer in there?

I'd say boxers , but I haven't worn underwear since like forever

With the, uh, extra bits, boxer briefs for sure. I have absolutely no experience with packers, nor will I ever, but you'd probably get one in.

I hated boxers. Hate the free feeling they give.  I always like my bits to stay where I put them.  So found boxer briefs do good.  Room to grow but keeps things where you put them.   My .02

I wear boxer briefs not to gey confused with boxer shorts which are much too loose. Boxer briefs hold a packer well, are so comfortable and also come in so many different fab designs and colours, definitely recommend 

When I was still going for guy mode, boxer briefs were objectively the best (because I say so ). They're just too comfortable. I'm not sure what effect that will have with a packer, of course.

Unless your packer is in a harness or somehow attached to the underwear, briefs are best if snug. Boxer briefs (on me at least) tend to stretch in the crotch, giving an unharnessed packer room to move around, turn upside down, etc.  Boxers have no support for a packer and if not restrained properly could end up falling down your pant leg.

Other than that, whatever is most comfortable.  I made a cheap packer harness out of 1/4" elastic. Basically goes around my waist with a ring of elastic to slide the packer shaft through. Holds it to my body and prevents it from riding up or down too much.  I do tend to wear pouch briefs with it so it stays put; even in boxer briefs if there is room for it to move, it might, and I don't want to be readjusting in public.

I've been wearing boxers since I had money to buy my own clothes. When I started wearing a packer, none of the harnesses really seemed to work for me. Either they didn't hold it securely in a realistic position, or they were a huge hassle in the bathroom, or risked showing harness-waistbands above my boxers. I did want to keep wearing boxers too. So I got skinny type briefs (low waistband and high on the legs, just basically enough material that covers my bottom and front, not sure what the style is called). I sewed elastic straps into the briefs to hold the packer and wear those on under my boxers. It looks alright, very simple and secure and no hassle in the bathroom at all, keeps the packer tucked up close to me so it doesn't swing around or get badly positioned. Even stripping for a boyfriend is no longer frustrating and embarrassing.

After reading numerous people talking about run-away packers, I really couldn't handle anything that didn't hold it securely and this definitely does. Only issue is the packer is right against my skin, which gets a bit irritating at times.

I don't pack yet (for Reasons - partly because I really don't pass much yet and I feel like it'd make me stand out more.. ehhhh no pun intended there.. but also other reasons) but I have made the switch to boxer briefs. Fun nerdy ones, some of which started out as just cheap plain ones that I painted logos on by myself. Really comfy and, if snug enough, "sharkweek" friendly too (one more reason not to go with looser boxers)

It's a personal preference thing. Boxers are looser and a bit longer. Briefs are short. Frankly remind me too much of women's underwear. I wear boxer briefs. A light weight packer like Mr Limpy can be pinned in the fly. I don't really like that way of wearing a packer though and I think it carries the packer too high.
I use a jockstrap for the packer.

If my dick were properly attached to my pelvis and made of my own flesh and blood, I would choose boxer briefs.  Unfortunately, my dick is silicone sometimes wanders away from my pelvis.  As such, I find that jock strap style underwear creates the smallest, snuggest pouch to hold a packer or stp in place.  Briefs also create a decently defined pouch for a packer, especially the so-called bikini style briefs.  In my experience, boxer briefs and boxers are far too loose for packing, unless one is also using a harness. 

Specifically, I've been using Andrew Christian Show-It briefs for daily packing with a Number One Labs STP.  These Show-It underwear have a built in pocket that works great for me. 

Just wanted to say that other guys posting probably had a problem with their packers staying in place in boxer briefs is bcos you bought the wrong size. Since buying mine in a size xs instead of small I've had no problems whatsoever about my packer not staying in position.

For me, if I go tight enough to keep my packer in place, the waistband of the underwear is so tight it leaves red painful marks on my skin, plus I need lower rise underwear than I can find so there's usually extra crotch space. Some boxer briefs are snugger than others too.

I think you are probably going to be trying out ALL possible types of undies in your quest to find what works for YOU.  If you are active, and packing, I think you might be best off with snug pouch-type briefs or a jock.  Boxers are comfortable, but not ideal for packing, so they work best if you are wearing baggy pants (sans package) or just hanging out at home.  Boxer briefs have a nice feel, but for me the legs tend to ride up and get all bunchy, plus they do not hold a packer in place unless you are sitting still.  I second the vote for the Andrew Christian line that has a pouch, although they can make me look a bit more endowed than I wish... The same is true with any jockstrap, since it supports your package a little high and tight.  The jockbriefs are a nice feel, but not so widely available.  My best advice is to buy ONE of something, and put it through a good test before stocking up.  I have spent more money than I care to believe on finding the perfect underwear,  but a guy's got to be comfortable, right?

I own all three types lol because my preferences vary. It depends on the weather, what I'm wearing with 'em, etc. I just find it easier to have a bit of everything.

If this will be your first pair of actual "guy" underwear, then I would just go for just normal briefs as they're the most comfortable to transition into. Boxer briefs are also good, but they ride up a lot which can be pretty annoying, although you get used to it. I wouldn't go for boxer shorts because they can be pretty awkward to pack in or just wear in general.

Boxer briefs FTW. I dallied around and tried everything out, boxer briefs feel best for me. Make sure you find the kind with elastic at the end of the thigh holes to keep them from riding up. You can pack in them, but your packer might move around.

I'd say get a pack of boxers or boxer briefs, then get a jock strap or jock style underwear. These hold the packer much more securely, and it's not uncomfortable to wear them underneath.

I've been wearing boxer briefs for the last couple of months and the work great for me. Far, far more comfortable than any other underwear I've ever worn. I'm not packing yet, other than stuffing a sock down to see how it feels, but I actually find the extra fabric gives the illusion of having something there when I'm walking about the flat in them.

Think it's going to be a while until I pack outside as there's no way I could fully pass until top surgery, so it getting loose wouldn't be so much of an issue for me just now.
