Does anyone know if HRT is available for MTF people? I had a look at the HSE's website and they identify it as a treatment women undergo after menopause, which kind of scared me as that means I may have to go overseas for it.. Also, if you know, what's the minimum age for HRT? Thanks a million, Natty

Dunno myself, but will be keeping an eye on this thread from the other side of the gender fence, as I may be moving back to Cork soon.

I'm from belfast and started hrt at 15 :) you go to your gp and ask to be refered to calms young peoples center. As far as I'm aware the minimum age for blockers is around 16.

I currently live in the southeast and have been on HRT for the last 18 months. To start you need a diagnosis from a gender therapist. Secondly that needs to be sent to loughlinstown hospital. Dr Canavan's clinic looks after all that.  Then it's a matter of waiting for an appointment. Usually start you on blockers and then 3 months later patches. It helps to have a full bloods done before loughlinstown.  Hope this is of some help.
