No matter what hair removal method I use(haven't done laser or electro yet, but plan on it), I get ALL the hairs ingrown but not in the usual manner. The hair grows under and along the skin. Its my understanding that most ingrown hairs grow into a little bump and when they finally release, you'll see the hair was curled up the whole time. Not me. My hair grows down my legs, but under the skin. It is not curled up. Its straight. I've been exfoliating EVERY day for two weeks now and its not helping. Do I have thicker than normal skin? Is there anything I can do before I go in for laser?

The odd thing is this is only a problem on my legs. I can do my arms, under arms, bikini area and none of them are a problem.

Not to be judgmental, but... weird.  8)

Seriously, though, I've not seen that before, and I don't think I've heard of it either. But I know I have very different behavior on different parts of my body. When I first shaved everything (i.e., arms, torso, legs, etc), I had no problems at all on my lower legs or armpits (aside from my clumsy shaving cuts), very minor red bumps here and there on my arms, a smattering of them on my chest, and pretty thick mottling on my upper legs and bikini area. I just continued doing what I was doing, adding pretty aggressive exfoliation and not shaving areas that were mostly red until they cooled off, and now almost everything is happy again. Just a few spots on my upper legs left, and I think they're fading.

Last time I epilated I waited about a week before starting aggressive exfoliation. I let it grow out again to give me enough time to dig out most of the hairs that were below the surface. Now I epilated last night, I'm going to just go crazy on the exfoliation starting today.
