Hello, fine gentlemen. (and ladies if you're also reading this.)
I'm looking for some guidance from FtMs on T with tattoos.

So there is this tattoo I've been wanting for a very long time, but the main thing keeping me from getting it, is not wanting it to look really ->-bleeped-<-ed up after I start T. Which will probably not be for at least couple of years.

I don't really know anything about this, but my thinking is that with all the shrinking some places, broadening others, gaining muscle mass, relocation of body-fat, it just seems to me that there must be some skin stretching.  But on the other hand, a lot of the FtMs I see in the media, do have tattoos that look quite nice.

I wanna get it on my upper arm/un-impressive biceps, but am worried about how that would look if I gained muscle mass.

So I'm just wondering about your experiences with pre-T tattoos.

Thank you, and happy new year.

The answer to this will need more info. The size and detail of the piece matters as well as the exact placement.

I have four tattoos from pre-t and neither has deformed or shifted around. One is a simple tribal piece that will probably a be covered with a more complexed half sleeve when I can afford it and the other is a detailed feather armband that represents my heritage. The one on my thigh hasn't even stretched or deformed.

The most complexed one on my forearm (half sleeve) was done in stages, part in early T and the last part a year ago when I was just over 3 years on T. The piece flows together seamlessly despite any effect from the T on my muscle mass.

You can always ask the tattoo artist "will this stretch out/look deformed if I gain a lot of muscle?". They should be able to answer you and suggest the best placement and size for you.

I have tattoos on my arm (sleeve) shoulder, upper back, and around my clavicle/neck area. I am only on T 5.5 months so I may not be the best example. However I will say that even with heavy workouts at this point, I have become a bit bigger and all my tattoos look just as they did before t and before working out.
in my experience the only people I've seen with very stretched out tattoos are women who've gone thru pregnancy, which is obvious since you grow exponentially over a short period of time (I am speaking about tattoos on the torso) id assume the same could happen with extreme or rapid weightloss or weigh gain in general.
Basically if you grow slowly over a long period of time you will most likely have your tattoos move with your skin and not get all out of wack. T doesn't make you blow up over night even if you work out.
I'll leave it at that, but as it was mentioned placement of the tattoo could make a difference for sure and I'm sure that all people are different and have different skin elasticity and different skin types.
