Is there any truth that capsaicin can boost hair growth? I am thinking this is why I have so much body and facial hair. I have always eaten lots of hot peppers, regularly scorpion peppers, scotch bonnet, habanero etc. Yes, I am from the Caribbean this is what we eat. :)

If it will help I might just lower the amount I eat or cut it out altogether.

My dad is from the Caribbean and he has quite coarse facial hair. It is genetics.

Capsaicin boosts metabolism, is used for better carbohydrate breakdown and is even effective against diabetic neuropathy.

I have never heard about it affecting hair growth.  I suspect this has to do more with the genetic makeup of cultures who tend to eat more spicy foods.

Just don't ever touch your junk after handling habaneros.  Not recommended!  Just ask my wife about the time I called her in a panic...

I vaguely remember reading about some snake-oil hair loss treatment that was based around hot peppers, the theory being that it acted as a vasodilator when applied to the scalp.  Not sure there's even a crumb of truth to that theory, but they sure do liven up boring food.

Oh no worries, Jill! I learned that lesson a long time ago... Eyes and face too. No touching!

I believe you will find that in cultures where there is heavy hot pepper use, there is also a profound lack of facial hair.

Genetics

I sort of remember that snake oil story too. I doubt shampooing in Ben-Gay would have helped me any. Grandpa was as bald as a cucumber in his 30's. My MPB started in my teens

Genetics

I lost the gene pool lottery in many ways  :(
