started when i was 18, didn't start T until a month after my 23rd birthday. that was my own fault as i wasn't in school, etc. to have my "real life experience" like i needed (which was a requirement then to start hormones). getting my top surgery this spring. my goal was to be fully transitioned by the time i was 24 and it looks like i will be done a month before my 24th birthday.

I started when I was 21; realized it myself, told family and friends and started the actual therapy process. I'm now 24, on T and post top surgery and hysto. :P

I would be curious to see a FTM poll separate from a MTF poll.  My understanding is that the average age for trans woman to transition is later than a trans man.  I'm curious to know if Susan.org's follows this pattern.

I'm on the later end for trans men.  I started testosterone at 44, top surgery was at 43.  When I got the top surgery I wasn't certain if I was going to socially transition or not.
Top Surgery: 10/10/13 (Garramone)
Testosterone: 9/9/14
Hysto: 10/1/15
Stage 1 Meta: 3/2/16 (including UL, Vaginectomy, Scrotoplasty), (Crane, CA)
Stage 2 Meta: 11/11/16 Testicular implants, phallus and scrotum repositioning, v-nectomy revision.  Additional: Lipo on sides of chest. (Crane, TX)
Fistula Repair 12/21/17 (UPenn Hospital,unsuccessful)
Fistula Repair 6/7/18 (Nikolavsky, successful)
Revision: 1/11/19 Replacement of eroded testicle,  mons resection, cosmetic work on scrotum (Crane, TX)

It was about 2PM, I think.

All kidding aside, I was 43 years, 8 months, 19 days.

I was just a few months younger than Jill. 43 years, 6 months... not sure how many days. :P

We're all pretty close.

I was 44 years, 5 months, and 9 days for T.  BUT, I was only 43 years, 6 months, and 10 days for top surgery.

Always known I was male, from my earliest memories. Did therapy for years and years, for gender stuff and other stuff, started T last year in September, I was 18 and a few months

I knew I was trans and that I wanted to transition at age 15-16 I'd say, came out to parents and started therapy at age 18, started hormones at age 19, this year I'm gonna turn 20 in May, when I'll be 8-9 months on T. According to plan, I'll have had top surgery by the end of 2016 (so I'll be 21 years old at most, if everything goes as planned).

I'm from the Dark Ages. Known since 4 didn't know how to go about it until 14 months ago when I couldn't go on anymore. I'm 63 I had a lot of therapy all my life , but I never saw the door.

I voted in the 28-33 range, even though I'm just starting my journey and I'm currently 28 I'm hopping that I'll have a lot more accomplished by the time I'm 33.

I'm a middle-ager... Top surgery at 40, started hormones 3 months after.  Still working on trying to feel right in this body.

I knew the discrepancy between mind and body was there, but I didn't acknowledge it until I was 13, 14. I buried those feelings until age 17, when I came out and started living socially as male. I started transitioning medically at 18.
