When it comes to skirts, shorts, dresses I'm really not that comfortable in them. I will rather bake in the hot Australian summer sun wearing a pair of jeans then showing my legs. I own one skirt that I will wear around the house on hot days, and maybe neighbors have seen me in it when I've taken rubbish out, collected mail ect. Yet as soon as I leave my driveway I'm back in jeans.

Now yesterday I set myself a challenge. While wearing my skirt grab myself a bread roll from the local shops. Yes I am full time, and I know am seen correctly in jeans and tops but this is way outside my comfort zone. (Have I mentioned how much I hate showing my legs.)

Slightly upset at this morning.  (I mean come on mother nature, we had three stinking hot mornings,  you couldn't go for four). Still down the street waiting at the traffic lights. Passing people getting ready to go to work and out for their morning walks. Get to the main street pass two local cafes with people having coffee on the street, and pick up my breakfast from the bakery. After that went to the ATM to see how much was in my account crossed the street then put money on my transport card at the newsagency and walked back home.

So I've finally walked out in public (albiet just around my suburb) in a skirt. A friend told me if skirts me don't worry about it. But still I wanted to at least to prove to myself. Who cares what anyone else says.

I can see the appeal to people but I'm a jeans girl. Might wear a skirt another day again but not today or tomorrow. Besides with the tops, shoes and boots in my wardrobe I already have multiple combinations of outfits. Although........ you can never have enough clothes

I bought one or two during my last transition a few years back. When I was thinking "you are a girl gypsy. Girls like wearing skirts and dresses". This time around I'm comfortable in my skin I know who I am and what my style is. I know I'm going to purchase another skirt in my future (trust me when I find it, it will be awesome). But for now and in the future I'm going to be the same laid back jeans and tops girl I've always been.

One thing that did make me laugh. While out running the daily errands in my skirt nobody commented on my appearance. Few hours later walking to the station to go out (back in jeans and hello kitty top). A child pointed at me and made some comment about me (I think). Her mother (?) told her that no I'm a girl

Well done, Gypsy!  :)

I remember my first couple times out of the house in a skirt.  It was a big step and really made me nervous at first.  Now I'm definitely a skirts and dresses girl.  I had to wear pants for 37 years...that was enough.

Congrats! Always good to widen your wardrobe choices. If you're concerned about your legs maybe consider one of those long below the knee dresses. I have a summery one and it's awesome.

I love dresses and skirts, plus I'm quite happy to show off my legs! I react quite strongly to heat and humidity so the more air I can have circulating around my skin their better.

I know what you mean about the weather this morning. I was having a coffee with a friend with a friend and decided that cargo pants it was. Warmed up this arvo though and I've just been for a nice long walk in my shorts.

I love skirts and very rarely wear jeans etc.

I have a tendency to wear short skirts, particularly in this temp, Sydney is cool compared to us lot! I always get complements.

You just need to get used to them.
You then of course get the four looks, in varying order of desire.

Face, boobs, bum, legs

Men have special eye muscles, very mobile.

Most of my skirts are mini, but recently I realized that actually a long skirt can look more sexy and elegant. My friends also recommend me to wear long skirts, but I am still occupied with miniskirts. And most of my miniskirt are still too short.

Just do it.

As a Sydney sider, I too love long flowing loose dresses.

I too struggle with the heat and humidity, so loose and flowing dresses are top of the purchase list during summer :)

Good on ya Gypsy!

Meanwhile, after a whole 8 days straight in girl mode it was back to work in jeans and a t shirt. Too hot! I was only too happy to change into a skirt when I got home.  ;D
