Sometimes we forget that this journey is a journey. We do get through it. It can seem very odd to read the same post from a different era everyday.

I like to wear female clothes; I haven't told my wife; I'm a man trapped in a women's body.

All of it so real and so painful.

Are we, can we ever be 'normal'.

South Australia has a BIG fire at the moment, it is horrible, but a normal part of our life. I was looking at my FB page and noticed how many of my TG male friends are in fire teams.

Are we normal men and women?
Nah

Keep safe guys.

You are heroes

Yes, those old posts can serve as really useful markers for our progress and for forgotten insights and dramas.

Those fires have become such a regular feature of the south eastern Australian summer I'm surprised there's any bushland that's still around to be burned. Stay safe!

Based on my observations there are a disproportionally large number of trans people that are fire fighters, soldiers and do other "macho" jobs.

I think the reason is threefold:

We are overcompensating.
We generally don't care very much about our welfare and would rather put others welfare ahead of our own.
We like to keep our minds occupied so as to not think about trans issues.

I certainly know quite a few and they are my heroes, most recently a good friend of mine which is a fire captain started transitioning on the job, bravery in more than one way.

Cindy,

I know what you mean. Recently I went over my old posts. I have grown personally, it really is a journey.

Antonia, I agree 100% about macho jobs and your reasons.
