Snowdoggy

Hello everyone,

Another newbie here. Been browsing the board for a few weeks now and thought I'd make myself known.

I'm 37 and have been on 'T' for 11 months now. Recently changed from Sustanon to Nebido on doctors advice (he says Nebido is a newer and better drug and stays more level between injections, less fluctuation) and would love to hear from anyone else who is using Nebido and/or has switched from Sustanon to Nebido on what the pros and cons of either are. I have been transitioning on the NHS since 2003 and am now awaiting an appointment to see a surgeon for chest surgery (process very slow but getting there).

Anyhow, hello and hope you are all looking forward to the weekend.

John

Thank you both for the welcome.

What are the teddy bear mood icons about? Can you change them yourself or does it go of something to do with your posts or how long you have been registered?
  •

Pica Pica

They are in the profile part, I think you can change them from the beginning. I've always attempted to be loveable though so after the initial change I never changed back.

Well I know I'm not angelic as my bear says so that's a relief  ;)

How long has this site been running? I have never noticed it before but am a  member of another one. Seems to be very comprehensive. Better laid out than the other one I'm on and more options on what you can talk about, runs fatster too.

Hi, Snowdoggy!

Welcome to Susan's!

I am happy that you are progressing as you need to toward being your true self.  I wish that I could make a comment about your treatment but that's beyond me.  However, if you keep doing what you're doing, checking your transition process, staying close with your HRT doctor and your therapist, you should do just fine.

Good to meet you!

Sincerely,

Paula

P.S.  Snowdoggy is a unique handle.  Do you ski, snowboard, or do other wintertime things?  Just nosey.

Welcome, Snowdoggy.

I wish I could get my husband into Susan's, but he's a Live Journal guy.

I don't remember how long Susan has had this site, but I believe it's more than 10 years.

This site was started in late 1995 as a subdirectory www.compu.net/ts in 28 December 1996 we moved to the susans.org domain.

It started out as a web based chat (click to refresh).

We later added a forum  5 or 6 incarnations ago (changed forum software every few years as we started encountering problems with the prior one).

We also included a links directory on the main page of the site. It's grown thanks to the very hard work of the links staff! Currently we have 393 Categories and 5154 links. All to clean TG sites with no adult content or pornography. We did make a small exception of the rule for transgender fiction provided they had a warning on the site before people could access content.

The most recent item added is the Wiki it evolved from a reference library we had since the late 1990's and when Wiki software became available and popular we migrated it to that format. We would love to allow non-staff users to edit but the spammers will not let that happen. So if anyone is interested in editing on the Wiki pm Steph or post in the Wiki section under general discussion and she will get you setup.

So that's a rough history. We are glad you are now a part of it!

Snowdoggy,

Welcome. I am not familier with what you take. I am on cypionate. That means nothing to me accept that it does it's job. I had my chest surgery Aug 2006. It is a life changing experience as you can imagine. Good luck with yours when the day comes.

Thanks for all the replies. You seem to be a friendly lot on here  ;D

Wing Walker, no I don't participate in any winter sports, have enough trouble staying upright walking in snow conditions to be honest. My stepson thought up the name Snowdoggy for me. Do you wing walk? Scary  :o

Marco, I have not heard of cypionate. What country do you live in? What country did you have your chest surgery done in? Are you pleased with the results? Sorry about all the questions but I'm not even sure which hospital I will be having my chest surgery done in as I am being treated in Leeds but live in a different place so come under a different Primary Care Trust area and none of my doctors or psychiatrists know which one I come under where I live. They reckon I will be treated in either Leicester or London.

The reason I was asking about Sustanon versus Nebido is that the doctor who has been treating me from the beginning has left now and the new guy changed me to Nebido because he says it is a newer drug and fluctuates less between doses. The thing is I used to inject 250mg of Sustanon every 3 weeks, the new drug is 1000mg every 12 months. Sustanon is now officially registered for use in ftm treatment whereas Nebido is mainly used to treat male hypogonadism and I'm not sure it is registered for ftm use. I looked through a few forums for men who have male hypogonadism and the popular consensus is that 12 weeks is too long between doses. After the intial dose you only leave it for 6 weeks before the next then 12 weeks from then on. My new doctor has not checked any of the usual things the old doctor used to every meeting (blood pressure, weight etc) and he didn't even have the results from my previous blood tests on my testosterone levels but has now put me on a course which will last for 30 weeks and this includes a switch between the 2 meds.

Sorry for waffling on and once again thanks to you all for the warm welcome.
