I call the person I love my fiance, because we're engaged.  How about you?

I call Emery 'Sweetie' and refer to him as my husband since we are legally married.

A long-standing conflict in my house.  I used to call her "my partner."  She didn't like that because she thought it made her sound like a lesbian.  After much objection on her part, I downgraded it to "spouse."  I did not hesitate to point out the meanings of the two words.  One can be a spouse without being a partner in any sense of the word.  A few days ago she said I can call her my partner if I want to.  I am not planning on doing that, because we really do not partner in any sense except for coparenting the kids.  The relationship is purely legal at this point.

I had to pick "Other," as it somewhat depends on the situation...

In business dealings (bank, etc.), I refer to my wife as my "spouse," as they need to know that we're legally married.

With strangers though, she's my "friend." Not GIRLfriend, but a close (and best) friend.

Usually it is just "Hey, you".

Yes, I am single. Why?

I call him my fiance because we're engaged. However, I do refer to him as my husband as well because we don't really need a piece of paper although we do plan on getting "civil union'd".

Bah, ruined our fun. And Jeannette, I know English isn't your first language, I was not making fun of you at all, you write it beautifully. I hope you take it in the spirit it was intended.

No offense taken Dennis :)  You're right, English isn't my first language; it's French!

I call him Sweetie but in general conversations I refer to him as my husband. (9 years this Dec and still on our honeymoon!)

In addressing her I call her either Eileen or Love or Darling or Chérie, or Trésord, or Queeny or Destiny or Sexy or Hey-you depending of the mood of the moment!  >:D
I had to correct my son who used to refer to her as my girlfriend: to the world she is my partner (in crime)   ;) as I think it defines well our relationship based on care, honesty, loyalty, complicity, respect, appreciation and  love.
