Ever since I started T I've had this crazy sweet tooth, it definitely wasn't like this before hand but just over the last 2 weeks I've really been noticing it. Maybe because I started around Christmas so lots of sweets were in my vicinity but since then everyday I crave something sweet. I try to keep an eye on it and drink plenty of water to even it out but the cravings are still there. Has this happened to anyone else?

No ))) But once I had  eating lemons for a week. Entirely, without sugar. Is it  dangerous? :icon_lemon:

It's just lemons haha I dunno what else it could really do to you than slowly eat the enamel off your teeth from all the acid and maybe give you some heartburn. But I'm not a fan of lemons so that's all I can think of on your end :P

Not heard of it before, but being on T can give you loads of energy and increase your appetite, so maybe the combination of the two have got you wanting to eat lots of sweet stuff? I don't know, haha.

I don't recall any cravings but I do remember the appetite changes like Jason mentioned. My wife used to tell me to slow down all the time because I would attack my food :). That has gotten much better but I do still have times where I just can't eat enough.

Yes. Every time I eat something, I want something sweet (even if it's just a small soda). That was almost never the case before T (I detested all sweets except for dark chocolate or citrus/sour candy – still more or less true). I've been suppressing it the entire time. It's not gone away and I don't expect it to. Now its more like background noise to me than, well, you know "give me candy now!" lol.

In my case, I believe it is because my average fasting glucose dropped after T (it was 90-110; now 79-89). My body isn't used to a normal glucose like that and it wants to catch back up, or so I have to think. Yes, I was technically pre-diabetic before T; I'm not at all anymore.

Although, I suppose I'm also kind of unintentionally following a 'low-carb diet' (all bread here in the U.S. is kind of yuck-tasting to me and I don't like it) so that can also play a big factor in sugar cravings. The less carbs (which, after a fashion, are also sugars) you eat, the more you're going to crave them or worse, straight sugar. What your body really wants is a moderate amount of carbs - not low or none at all. So perhaps you should try upping your grains and breads a bit and see what happens.

I believe the 'magic' ratio is 2:1 (protein to carbs) in grams.

I have a finicky digestive tract, so I started eliminating some foods over a decade ago to find out what was messing up my insides. It turned out that I don't tolerate carbohydrates well, so I wound up starting a sort of Atkins-style eating plan. In the end, I cut out grains, fruit, most dairy, and processed sugar (I used some artificial sweetener). In late winter or when I'm extremely stressed, I go back to my old ways, and I find that the more carbs I eat, the more I want them. I also noticed that when I return to a low-carb system, I stop craving sweets after a couple of weeks. In addition, my innards are happier, and my depression is mitigated.

I normally have a desperate sweet tooth and have had one all my life. Cutting carbs works for me, but I imagine it's because of my genetic heritage--I figure that my DNA was handed down by northerners who ate a lot of reindeer and didn't cultivate wheat, or something. :P

You have to find what works for you. Don't be afraid to experiment.

Everything on T tastes like crap. I don't know why. I need to eat whole foods. No more frozen pizzas or fast food for me, it just tastes bad. As for sweet tooth, I had it  bad pre-t. Now I can actually control it. It was so bad that before I could eat an entire bag of Hershey's Nuggets (almonds) and now I can only eat 4 pieces and I'm like, okay no more and put the rest away. O.o

@Jason C: That was actually part of my thinking, instead of me just eating tons of random foods it feels like my appetite has targeted sweets :P

@Dex: Haha, no ones told me to slow down yet but I'm still pretty early in it.

@Mangus: I was borderline diabetic like 2 years ago so I changed my eating habits, used a lot of splenda instead of sugar and cut out sodas except maybe twice a month and when I did have them I'd only have diet sodas. Switched from fried foods to grilled or baked, just minor changes and upped my working out regimen and I was out of the woods. I lost a good amount of weight with that too and that was my norm but now since T the sugar cravings have come back hard. Thanks for the advice, I'll give it a shot.

@Arch: I see, I think I'll just have to trick my brain again into thinking I'm getting sugar when I'm actually not. That's how I had to do it when I was first trying to cut out sweets, artificial sweeteners and sugar free drinks. I even use sour patch kids sugar free gum as a way to get that taste but not all the sugar and calories that come along with it haha. I'll just have to be more aware of how many sweets I'm actually consuming.

@2fish: It's mainly ice cream, cookies, candy, and regular sodas I crave but hopefully that'll calm down soon or I find a way to satiate it.

Thanks for the replies everyone!

Sex hormones sure are funky. Now that I am on T, my digestive problems are mostly better (but not eliminated). I need more fats and protein than I did, but the sweet tooth never went away.

I don't have the monthly digestive issues anymore, though. Thank heaven. Or thank T, that is.
