I am currently just over 4 months on T. I was lucky with my period stopping as soon as I started T, however, I'm still getting the side effects like cramping and sometimes nausea. Does this ever go away, and if so, about when?

From what I understood, it doesn't really go away unless you have a hysterectomy.

I'm not sure if this is going to help at all, but I haven't had a single symptom like that for like a year and a half, ever since the dreaded shark week stopped. Granted, it took three months after starting T to go away. And it went down with a real fight with cramps, longer periods of blood and the likes. But once it was gone, it was gone for good. Haven't seen or felt a single piece of evidence of it existing after. So perhaps it may be a good thing to have your doc look at it, just to be sure?

I have always had problems with my birth organs ever since I started my period. When I started T,  my cramping and pressure pain I always had was gone... For the first 6 months. It then started to come back though not the periods themselves, just the pain. I talked to my doc about it at the 1 year check up and she said some guys she's treated just do continue to have problems with it. She is recommending a hysterectomy at this point as she said there isn't really much else that seems to help.

For some guys, the T takes care of all of that, some guys it doesn't. I'd give it just a little bit longer to see if it improves, otherwise I second talking to your doctor about it.

Dex, i feel sorry for you, getting all that pain from those parts you wish were gone.  You could have a valid reason for your insurance to cover a hysto for you.  I think I want a hysto after a yr or two on T.

I have this too, except also some spotting. My endo won't actually say anything on it except (repeatedly): Your values are good, no need to up your T. Even after telling him that's not why I'm asking. So I planned on a doctor's visit because if he won't tell me if it's normal or not how can I know. I feel a little relieved to know your endo says it's just something some guys have. A friend of mine developed cysts during T and had the same type of symptoms so I was kind of getting worried. Still going to the doctor though, doesn't hurt to be sure. I'm also looking into a new endo, kind of done with this guy.

@mm Yeah it does suck being reminded of those parts every day. Unfortunately, in my area in order to get the hysterectomy (and also for insurance purposes), I need to see OB for a consult. Talk about embarrassing! They asked "What is your spouse's name" when I called to make the appointment, lol. I guess I can just be happy my voice is not questioned over the phone as being male.

I am hoping to get insurance to cover it as I have had a few surgeries already for endometriosis and poly cystic ovaries before T so I definitely have a paper trail of problems. We will see though, my consult is on 1/22.

@nathanielm I'm glad it helped to hear that my doc said some guys continue to have symptoms. I have heard that a hysterectomy is really the only way to "cure" the issues though, even before my doc confirmed. If your doc isn't listening to you or you feel uncomfortable with your care, definitely look elsewhere. A good doctor will hear you out. After all, no one knows your body and what is going on with it more than you.

Dex, Since you have a paper trail of endometriosis and ploy cystic ovaries you should be able to get a hysto.  You have been through so much with parts you don't want and will never use.  I get bad cramps about day before I start every month which I just bear with using OTC meds.  I don't want to take any female hormones with all the sides that you can have.  I haven't had a dr see my lower parts since I was about 14-15, never had them really exam'ed.  I hope for the best for you.

Thank you, That's what I'm hoping. My concern is that they do have my transgender diagnosis on file so even though the other diagnoses and issues go back 10 + years and much further back than my trans diagnosis, that insurance will give me a fight over it. I hope that is not the case, it will certainly make things easier and I've tried everything else they've asked me to to see if it helps.
