The letter mentioned two options.

1. Dusit Princess Srinakarin hotel.

2. Bangkok Rama hotel (Old name = Bann Siri hotel)

#2 is far cheaper but a bit further from the clinic. I'm paying to bring a friend, one of my best friends, and leaning towards #2.

But I'd like to get opinions from those who stayed at either? #2 is also tempting because it's bungalows instead of hotel rooms.

I stayed at the Dusit, and I enjoyed my time there.

I went into that in considerable detail in my thread about my experience with Chett. Dusit is more up-market with a better choice of food but the rooms are considerably smaller than in the Rama, you don't have self catering facilities and it is far harder to meet other girls.
I should also add that if you like being outdoors, the bungalows are a great option as you have immediate access to the hotel garden for sitting around, gentle strolls etc.. Since everyone stays in the same alley of bungalows,it is also particularly easy to make new friends.

To be honest, the bungalows and garden sound divine for healing up after this.

I intend to stay in the bungalows when I go, for me because I want the kitchen and be able to open my door to the outside. But there was a person here recently who was really not liking all the critters that can get into the bungalows so you may want to consider that as well.

One thing that stuck out at me is the lack of mention of WiFi or Internet at the Bangkok Rama website.  Does anyone with experience with Bangkok Rama able to offer more information?

Does anyone know how much Thai money (baht) is recommended to bring?

There's WiFi at the Rama, it's quite good speed-wise. As for the Baht, make sure to prepare the extra amount in case you get the skin graft... but aside from that. I brought around 7500 baht ( was supposed to be 10k but the exchange rates weren't that excellent at the time ). But I also got I think around 6000 baht from my roommate for her share of the room when she arrived. The day before I left I had around 8000 baht to spend at Seacon Square. And during my stay I was buying lots of groceries, bed pads, maxi pads, lube and such.

But keep in mind that those are approximate numbers since I can't recall the exact amounts :3 Oh, the amounts I mention are cash only, I paid for the room with my credit card.

I just had my surgery back in November 1st. I stayed at the Bangkok Rama Hotel for the rest of my stay. It's basically like studio cottages and you have your bed, bathroom and kitchen to cook as well as a menu for ordering food. I stayed there for 21 days and it was great. I had the a/c on most of the time and had a patio with benches next to the entrance of my room. There were a few other girls there who was either there longer or just had surgery done. Although, a few others have had a different experience there but for me, it was cheaper and saved me a lot of money.

As for wifi, it went great for me. It wasn't slow or choppy but i wouldn't say it was better than the internet in America. I was able to skype and play my online mmorpg games while in recovery at the bangkok rama hotel. I ordered room service a lot at the last 2 weeks of my stay there. I walked around the hotel as well to exercise.

But I think you could stay in the tower but the cottages/bungalows are recommended for surgery patients from Dr Chettawut. Ms Sri and another nurse always visit daily but not on sundays to check how your vagina looks either if it's infected or if something is wrong and if there is, she reports it to Dr.

On my last week when I thought I felt better which I almost fainted, I went to walk around and had to take out cash from an ATM and there were shops and a 7-11 as well as the supermarket 4 blocks away where i almost fainted but thank to my neighbor at the bangkok rama hotel, she was there to help me.

I brought about $17,500 and after I had to pay for the SRS+BA surgery (444,000 THB/$13,586) and skin graft (32,000THB/$980) and since I wanted one size bigger than the standard size for my BA, I had to pay $300 more, $3000 went for my excess grocery shopping, room service, total hotel payment, free breakfast everyday, extra hygiene supplies and pads, and plus the extra fee for taking money out of the atm that they charge to your bank.

I was supposed to be staying at Dusit Princess for my upcoming surgery but I had a price disagreement with them and have changed my hotel to Bangkok Rama. It's a long story as to how we disagree over the price and I don't believe in airing such things publicly

If anybody wants to read it feel free to e mail me.  I would still prefer the Dusit as I like hotel rooms more than the cottages but we plan to bring with us or buy locally some extra items to make the stay better
