Ennaria

Hello everyone.  :)

My name is Kahlan and I'm a very out and proud 26yo MtF. I found this website recently and want to become a part of this wonderful community. There have been times throughout my transition thus far when I could have used the love and support that is offered by the many beautiful people here. I tend to be very detailed and descriptive when I write, so I'll try not to make this too long.  :P

I'm pretty "newbish" when it comes to forums, so I'll do my best to follow the protocols and not do anything wrong. If I do, please feel free to correct me so I can learn. :)

I currently live on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada (shout out to any Canadians out there!  :D). I'm in the Military, so I don't really have a home town, as I've lived all across the country.

My epiphany moment was March 2014. Everything came together and I found my true self. I've been increasingly happy throughout my journey since then and look forward to everything that is to come.

My life has been ever so much brighter since I came out. It's opened up the world for me. Everything is fresh and exciting.

I'm so happy to be here and look forward to meeting new people and sharing our experiences.  ^-^

I saw your post in the before and after mentioning the military, so I checked your posts to see if you found us yet.

Welcome,

It's great to see more Canadian girls here, I don't know much about the community over on the west coast but here around Toronto and up in Ottawa the trans community is very active and have helped me a lot, acceptance from the wider community is also very good so I consider myself lucky.

I've heard good things about the transgender policies in place in the Canadian Armed Forces and I hope that's reflected in your experiences.

Thank you Antonia. ^_^

I'm in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island, and it's a relatively small town. A lot of the trans people I know here are older, making for a bit of a generation gap at times. Though there seem to be more and more younger trans people coming out. I don't get over to Vancouver (the Ferry is expensive) or down to Victoria (bit of a road trip) very often, but I've heard great things about the trans communities for both places. I plan to visit both very soon, as I have friends that live there I can stay with. I'm glad to hear of the acceptance in Ontario. I've lived there on and off for about 9 years of my life (born there, then moved back a couple times while growing up because my parents were Military). Most of my family lives there, so I visit when I can afford the flights. :)

As for the policies, yes they're pretty great (for the most part). The Military isn't always that great at keeping up with the times. Policy changes take FOREVER... Though, once the policies are in place, they're rock solid.  ^-^
