I talked to my friend and a therapist and they suggested i find a doctor to consult abt starting hrt. I called a local clinic and they said i could make an appointment, but i worry i wont be prescribed.

Did the clinic give you the impression that the doctor wouldn't prescribe HRT? I'd give it a chance first :)

This one therapist wanted 600 dollars for referall. Thats why im just gonna go to a doctor and ask.

If there is one near you try Planned Parenthood. :)

I am guessing you are maybe in the states?

Have you checked the planned parenthood about the services the have for the Libya community.?

Can also look around for a lgbtq group at a local collage that might know of services.

Web searches?

Gatekeepers make me sick. I'm positive that if you live in the states you can find a doctor that will prescribe HRT without a referral. If that clinic doesn't want to do it, please don't give up hope.

I went to the local lgbt health center. I could find a counselor that excepts my insurance.
We had one session and she told me she would recommend me by next session and set an appointment for the doctor right after next session.
Less gatekeeper and more of a doorman.
Sliding scale on counseling. Think it cost 13 bucks. Doctor will be more because he actually takes my insurance.
Keep searching. Let Google be your friend.

I do informed consent with Beth Israel. They are pretty good. I see a nurse practitioner who is trans as well and very understanding. They have a family doctor and specialists if I need it. I get what I need and they do my primary care too. They are awesome. Oh, and they take my insurance so it's just a small copay.

If you live in the states there are options.

If you live in a major metro area there are likely to be plenty of options.

Over here there is also Callen-Lorde and APICHA. They both do sliding scale. Callen-Lorde is popular in the trans community and gets high marks. APICHA caters more to Asian and Pacific Islander but they will take anyone from what I understand.
