***Trigger warning***

There could be an increased risk from cis * people now...imagine if a "girlie-guy" were to use the men's room...and the men inside decide that he is a she...and then force him against the wall and pull down his pants while "roughing him up"....or if a very butch looking woman goes into the lady's room and that happens to her?

Sorry if this triggered anyone...
...I think for most of us it is a futile effort to try and put this genie back in the bottle once she has tasted freedom...

One thing about that Jill - the old saying to be careful for what you wish for and the law of unintended consequences comes to mind - these people want to legislate us out of the bathrooms that match our gender - OK, so be it.

Can you imagine the uproar when trans women start using the men's room because "that's the law" and they are required to? And like you said - Buck Angel in a women's rest room?!?! OMG!  :o

Interesting thing happened at the roller rink today.  My son needed to use the restroom - he has started using urinals and my wife was not available, so I went with him.  Standing in front of the wall that divides the two restroom entrances was, based on her very visible crucifix pendant, a Good Christian Woman.  As I started to go in with my son, the woman said to me, "You can't go in there, that's the boy's room".

I ignored her, we went over to the urinals and I stood "guard" as my son emptied his bladder.  I could hear the woman just outside instructing her husband to go in and "tell her to leave the boy's room".  He came in, looked for a moment and went right back out again and mumbled something to her about "helping the kid pee".  Now, I *know* that most days I don't always get perceived as a woman & today I was wearing nondescript clothes & no makeup.

This isn't really about sex or gender, it is about *control* over others.

QuoteKentucky proposal: Encounter a transgender person in the wrong restroom, sue for up to $2,500

A proposal  in the Kentucky legislature would require that transgender students avoid school restrooms, locker rooms and showers that don't correspond with their sex assigned at birth.

The Kentucky Student Privacy Act, sponsored by Republican state Sen. C.B. Embry, is also designed to punish school administrators who give transgender students access to school facilities designated for the opposite sex.

Now Kentucky is possibly taking a step backwards.

The nerve of some transphobic people.  Now they're going to try and offer money to people for turning in those school employees who allow transgendered people to use public bathrooms that are appropriate to their adopted gender.   ::) :P

I expect him to not know anything about us, but you really should.

Community Definitions:

Transgender: an inclusive umbrella term which covers anyone who transcends their birth gender for any reason. This includes but is not limited to Androgynes, Crossdressers, Drag kings, Drag queens, Intersexuals, Transsexuals, and ->-bleeped-<-s

http://www.gendersupport.org/forums/index.php/topic,54369.0.html

"Trangendered" is also incorrect usage.

Hugs, Devlyn

Thanks for providing the breakdown of we folks who fall under the transgendered umbrella.  Yes, I already know all of this.

From the Huffington Post ...

Kentucky is also one of the remaining states in the U.S. where gay marriage has still not been legalized. Reading the above article, I get the impression that Embry is not only transphobic, he clearly does not know the difference between a transgendered person and a cross dresser.

'"They're certainly welcome to live their lives as they choose, if they want to dress as the opposite sex and the school is OK with that, that's fine," he told the outlet."'

According to this clown, we "chose" this life, we want to dress as the opposite sex and we should be able to use whichever bathroom we want.  Well, he's just an ignorant boob and this bill needs to be overturned or challenged in the state's highest court.  I hope it goes to court where it will draw more attention and hopefully, protest.

Oddly, I think this might be a good thing. If it spurs debate, it will help people understand why we use the appropriate restrooms and how it would be worse to have a trans guy in the ladies or a trans woman in the mens.

I think it's going to be fun striking this law down. A little civil disobedience?

Seriously, show of hands... who here thinks Buck Angel belongs in the ladies' room?

LOL.

Well, I posted it because you said this:

I have a tendency to over-think things and when I read the article, crossdressers entered my mind.  Crossdresser is an inclusive term for basically those who dress as the opposite sex to their assigned gender at birth.  While most crossdressers would be considered as being a part of the transgender umbrella, not all crossdressers identify themselves to be transgender.  Anyway, that is all I wanted say.

Kentucky Transgender Restroom Bill Withdrawn from Senate
March 24, 2015
http://www.tristatehomepage.com/story/d/story/kentucky-transgender-bathroom-bill-fails-in-legisl/27223/B0wAcjpTmkasMjHE1jX0bw

A proposed law that drew widespread criticism for targeting transgender students in Kentucky appears to be dead.

The Kentucky General Assembly adjourns without passing the Student Privacy Act. That's the law that requires transgender students to use the restroom designated by their birth gender

Victory (for now) in one state, three to go
"Choosing to be true to one's self — despite challenges that may come with the journey — is an integral part of realizing not just one's own potential, but of realizing the true nature of our collective human spirit. This spirit is what makes us who we are, and by following that spirit as it manifests outwardly, and inwardly, you are benefiting us all." -Andrew WK
