I am much conservative and libertarian but one thing that just angers me and makes me embarassed to be libertarian and conservative is these people who call transgender people all sort of things like sick, mentally ill, freaks and all sorts of other ignorent things. They do it just for they dont understand and people attack what they dont understand instead of trying to understand or just leaving others alone. They get way worse about it than the above and what I dont like is they use religion to attack those who they dont understand. I believe like my family in heaven, hell, jesus and god and to respect people.

I was born in a conservative/libertarian home and both my parents taught me to be respectful to others like black, trans, gay and so on. Im not sure why okay, you dont understand so either leave me alone or try to get to know me but either how treat me respectfully. I do have to say that some of these religious people are hypocrites saying love all except this and that. Im not saying all conservatives and libertarians are this way as there a ton of respectful people around towards trans people.

I totally respect religious rights, I love chick fil a and I respect businesses running themselves how they wish. I do believe like my mom and dad that people need to respect others for who they are and if someone cant be nice, than leave that person alone. My dad who passed away over a year ago used to say when Id pick on someone or make fun of someone, he would tell me in a way of how stop worrying about people who have no effect on your life. That my time could be spent doing something worthy instead of pointing out people who have no effect on me even 10 seconds later. My mom would talk on the sameway.

Society has been moving towards me-ium.

No thought or respect for others.

Due to back issues that effects my leg i use a cane.

I have a hard time getting around with a bum leg.

I stand more times the get a seat on the bus or the subway.

Respect is lost and more do to social training.

Its a dog eat dog world where live in.

It is sad.

Hang in there and do your best, just a day at a time.

I'm with you Larissa. I don't get the brand of Christianity that invalidates our identities (and a lot of other LGBT folks). I'm not Christian, but from what I've learned about Christ's teachings, I understand that compassion figures high among the values there, and that Christ gravitated toward marginalized people. Based on that understanding, the attitudes you talk about are distinctly UNCHRISTIAN.

I don't let myself sweat it. I do sometimes feel guilty not giving up my seat. Thing is, although my difficulties are not always obvious or even constant, I have congenital degenerative arthritis. All of my joints are literally wearing away. So I don't let myself get upset at others who don't give up a seat because their handicap may be as un-obvious as mine. I just give up my seat when I can. Not that I'm recommending what works for me to you. Everyone has the right to their own feelings.

I identify politically similar to you, but struggle with how conservatives/libertarians handle the whole thing. I can listen to talk radio all week to and from work until they bring some Trans issue up (bathrooms,ect) and end up yelling at the radio and cutting it off. It would be different if  the narrative was serrious or constructive , but it's usually just name calling and snickering.

I'm taking time to dial back the talk radio and Facebook bs, there's better things to use the time for anymore.

I'm a libertarian that has some conservative principles. But generally I'm pro life, pro gun, pro business, pro military and believe in less government. I am a Christian (catholic). The constitution is not a living document. Basically don't tread on anyone.

That said, there are some who are bigoted and hateful. The good news is that people are beginning to understand that to win people over you can't hate them.

It will take time and effort though. I think with normal people coming out the tide is turning. A lot of my friends are hardcore conservatives but when I come out I want to see what they say. If they call me a ->-bleeped-<-, not my friend anymore. But those that I've come out to have surprised me. One even gave me a big hug and said he's there for me. Another said well he's glad I own guns and carry because of violence against trans women, especially trans women of color. Damn skippy. Not taking chances with my life.

We are a very diverse group and that I am glad for. I could never ever be a socialist or even a democrat. After seeing criminal behavior on the streets close up I also will never give up my right to keep and bear arms.
