Swedish Left Party Chapter Wants To Make Urinating While Standing Illegal For Men

By Weird News June 13, 2013

Take a stand -- and sit down for what you believe in.

Male representatives on the Sormland County Council in Sweden should sit rather than stand while urinating in office restrooms, according to a motion advanced by the local Left Party.

I Wish It will became a universal law and should abolish all men's urinals nad Gender neutral bathroom should be the norm in all public places and offices

What business is it of the gov. to tell people whether they can sit or stand to urinate? While I will agree that some of us should be more respectful about making sure we don't "miss", and if we do cleaning up after ourselves, but for many men, urinating while sitting is a problem.

I'm a F to M who didn't have surgery until I was 26, mainly because I had no information and didn't know it could be done. There were times as a very young child, I would wake up in the night with my bladder bursting, sit on the toilet and be so convinced that if I did, the urine would go straight out over the edge of the bowl and onto the floor that I'd just go back to bed. The result is pretty obvious. I don't have the urinary hookup, so using urinals is not an option. At home, I can put one foot on one side of the bowl and one on the other, and its much easier for me. Urinating while sitting takes me forever to start a stream.

Anyway, the point is that its not just an asthetic thing for some guys. Not to mention the thought of gov. regulating how I urinate very unnerving.

Yes. It is more hygienic. Here in my country, some men sit while using restroom at their home. If you have to clean the restroom everyday, you know how dirty it is to pee while standing. And also making a lot of noise at mid night.

Just do it.

so, what do you do, use ID to gain entrance to stall, then you're on camera to see if you sit or not?

Sorry but this stuff is ridiculous. Why should we be forced to sit? I'll do whatever I want to do. I also hate when women try and tell us what to do, we must sit cause I think its better. If it doesnt involve you then why does it matter what someone else does? No I wont sit cause someone else thinks I should. Urinals should not be abolished just because some people dont like them. Quite a selfish way of thinking. Just leave it so its there as an option as they are less messy than standing up at a toilet (yes we can sit but why should we be forced into it because someone else thinks we should). Im against that way of thinking. I agree there should  be more gender neutral bathrooms but not this complete doing away with one thing because you personally dont like it. STP's exist for a reason. If everyone is forced into sitting they become redundant. I like urinals whether others do or not and I think its ridiculous trying to police how people use the bathroom
Some pieces are missing...

Put the shoe on the other foot. What if there was going to be a ban on using sanitary pads at that time of the month because men found them offensive in the trash can, or on the floor. (Having been in both gender specific bathrooms). Before I transitioned and had to use the female restroom, I would see wrapped up used pads and tampons on the floor.

If someone tried to ban disposing of those products in public restrooms, women would be outraged. Each person is responsible for their own mess, and that means both genders cleaning up after themselves. Abolishing urinals wouldn't stop men from standing to urinate. They would use a stall and urinate into the toilet standing. What then? Are the urine police going to raid the bathroom?

Unfortunately, putting aside the rights and wrongs of this issue, men (most anyway) simply are going to miss or splatter and will not clean up after themselves. They just wont. Thats why mens toilets stink so much. Thats the sad truth.

I was recently involved with putting on an event which was held at a local rugby club which rents out their facilities when not used for matches. They have a very nice new clubhouse which is really quite posh. The toilets were new and large and smelt of fresh   fittings and paint. Extra chairs were stacked just inside the entryway of the mens which we had go and get to set up. Already there was a lingering smell from inside. I don't know what the solution is?
