so yesturday i was wondering how i made so much money this year, were did it all go? so i looked back in my financial records and found that i have spent $9000 on laser, and $5800 on clothes/cosmetics/shoes etc.. it is really astounding how much money i have frivolously spent over the past year, now the laser has pretty much made me 90% hair free on almost my entire body but wow i can't believe i have spent so much money and am still broke, i don't know how women can afford to live with the cost of buying their high priced beauty items while still working jobs that make significantly less money than men, i'll tell you this women are amazing at budgeting,

i don't know if i would have rather spent all that money on surgeries

I have no idea on how much I've spent on clothes, makeup, accessories, etc... Way more than I should have. I've got student loans to pay off and not to mention the eventual SRS.

ya i have more important expenses but i choose to spend money on clothes still that won't fit when i get my bbl/ba surgery, i have made a vow to myself to not purchase any more clothing until i have paid for those surgeries

I'm in the same boat.

What I discovered is that building an entire winter/spring/summer/fall wardrobe with exercise clothing, evening gowns, business casual, business smart, etc takes a lot of money, you basically have to buy in one year what you would typically buy over the span of 5-7 years so that's a big money sink.

On top of this you need to add nail-polish, make-up, hair care products, haircuts, hormones, blockers, etc.

Then there is laser and soon I'll need a bit of electro to wrap it up.

Even without any surgical work I easily spent 20K last year, this year will be a bit easier but my wardrobe still has big holes in it.

Hopefully I'll be able to save some money this year.

It all adds up, doesn't it?
I completed my electrolysis about 3 years ago...cost around $8,000. It sort of surprised me how much electro cost because some people said I'd be done in five or six session. No way!! I did close to 100 hours over 18 months.
But so worth it.

Electro has been my major expense, then footwear, then clothes, then cosmetics...but I have keep cosmetics to an absolute minimum, and clothes and shoes to necessity levels while retaining a reasonable choice when dressing for work. Plus I buy most of my clothes from Target, much to the amazement of my female colleagues I'm actually able to find some rather stylish clothes for not a lot of $$$.

It's all about sales like Black Friday.  I went to MACY's with my mom last November and we bought a few outfits for me, an amazing coat, some winter jackets, and dressy work clothes for my older brother who hates shopping.  Altogether I think we spent maybe $650ish, as most of the items were less than half usual prices.  Although, we did open a MACY's credit card and got an additional 20-40% off.

But yeah, it's expensive looking good [emoji53]
Especially if you like having cool nails and hairstyles.

This is what I love about my job. Uniform tops are provided, we provide the bottoms.

Now before I pull anything of the rack,  I'm mentally going through my wardrobe and just how versatile something will be. Even tops that you would wear with jeans can need a certain colour and fit to look right. If I don't have it on me and the money to buy the extra clothing. I won't try it on, so I'm not tempted to buy something I won't wear

Hair care even if you don't colour your hair. Make up, accessories, laser and electro (least that one ends in the end). It's easy to see where the money dissappears if you're not paying attention.

Yup, a workplace is a "top", and we are the "bottoms"!  ;D

Every laser or Electrolysis place I've been to told me "Most people are almost entirely cleared up in 6 sessions or less..." I'm beginning to think that that early optimism is just to hook a customer for the duration...

I'm with you on that one.  My wife and I aren't "low fashion" exactly but we are practical enough to know that plenty of fashionable numbers can be found in the thrift stores.  When my transition gets into full steam mode, I imagine I'll be frequenting the thrift shops quite a bit while I'm finding my own style.

I have this thing about pre-worn clothes.  I just like having pretty clothes I bought for me and no one else.  Otherwise I kinda feel like I'm wearing someone else's clothes.

Still, I did go to a thrift store last week and picked up two skirts, two pairs of jeans, and a few tops.  Then I washed them a bunch to wash away the previous owner and anyone else who tried them on in the changing rooms.

My local spa *almost* had me sold with a set of lash extensions...$120 for their "middle" category (not the least number, but not a full set either).

How well do lash extensions hold up?
