HCF is completely based on what Medicare cover and they won't cover anything they don't have too, that's my experience. But your correct they do pay some towards SRS but I wouldn't be expecting to be paying any less than $6000 with Andy Ives. And that's assuming that Medicare and hcf come to the party with the Anaesthetists fee

I have all but given up on being able to get SRS/GCS simply because even if most of it were to be covered I don't know how I will be able to get the minimal $10,000.

Everything can seem to be overwhelming and unreachable, but if you want/need it enough you'll get there. I always seem to find someway of affording these types of things even know they are insanely expensive. Just keep saving and you'll get there one way or another. Even just a few dollars a week in savings is a good place to start.

I have given up basically, I was deemed unable to work about three years ago and get a disability pension, I foresee no way to get the money needed irregardless on whether it is covered or not or even partly. That is just GCS alone, never mind other procedures I feel are needed to even remotely like myself or feel I can live long term.

Have you considered early release of superannuation?

Lots of interesting information here. Im 11mths HRT and 13mths tblockers, so I have a long way to go, but I will keep watching this. I was told by a few ppl that if you get medico's to sign off on it you can get early release super, Ive done it before under financial hardship and altho the paperwork was annoying once its approved its like yay \o/

Yeah it's not to hard just a fair bit of paper work, I know a few GP's and psychiatrist who would be happy to sign off on that sort of thing.

Ok I'd like to revisit the idea of getting SRS done in Australia but I need to know how good the surgeons are here. My concern is that Australian surgeons would lack experience.

Definitely and I know noone who's had GRS with either of the current Australian surgeries :/

Andrew Ives has lots of experience, I know many girls who have been to him. I'm booked with him. His results are excellent but he doesn't advertise (he has no reason too!)

Just curious, is there anyone that deals with FFS specifically in Australia?

As I'm an Irish-Australian I want instead to raise funds to go live in UK, where SRs is fully covered by UK NHS.  The Irish passport entities me to live anywhere in the EU as long as I like, qualify for social benefits, and work.
