I can't keep my wig anywhere in the house now except hanging from the bathroom door. Shes figured out how to get in the closets and on top of every other surface in the house to get at it and it's a total and complete mess right now.

It's a synthetic wig, and right now looks like Cousin It got in a fight with a fan. Is there any easy ways of straightening it out?

Wash and a detangele gel? Combing when dry? Repeat if needed?

For me a warm water wash seems to reset mine.

My cat is definitely worse than my daughter with anything that sits on shelves.

Warm not hot. Not cold. And some shampoo. Then let it dry before you try to comb it out.

That cat must really hate your wig! I hope she doesn't attack you when you're wearing it! How about some measures to prevent it from opening the closet door?? And thanks for the heads up, I sometimes think of getting a cat...some precautions may be required!

Once you go cat, you never go back. I have 3 now, and I wish I could have more

Although yes I do blame the cat and I won't trade her, my kitty!!!

And yes she's very belligerent about attacking anybody with long hair.

I worried a lot about getting mine wet when I still wore a wig.  Finally I went to a wig shop, they stock shampoo and conditioner for synthetic wigs and it worked wonders!  Like seriously made it look new again.  The conditioner was a leave in type that really made it lay right again.

I've also heard Woolite is good for wigs too but haven't tried it myself.

Did you buy it at a shop? Maybe talk to the shopkeeper about washing instructions and how to restore it.

The lady who sold me my wig gave me washing instructions that involved turning it inside out and rinsing it in woolite, so for mine, water is not a problem.

The only thing stopping me from getting more than one is I'm afraid of getting the CCL label lol.  Toxoplasmosis has taken over my brain and it feels ....GOOOD!

Yeah, I'd definitely say use lukewarm water, and gently comb it out, let it dry and style it from there. If the first time doesn't work, you can do that a couple times, with spritzing water, combing it, drying it, and then it should be good to go!

As for preventing the cat from getting to it, maybe look into getting a heavy storage box. A tote, zip up travel luggage, or a hope chest of some kind would be best. Something the cat can't lift, unzip, or unhinge. You can find REALLY cheap options at thrift shops. Like I know in the west, and east coast US I've been able to find those things for under $10 at Goodwill.

Best of luck living with a cat that seems to have radical opinions on long hair!

I finally remember what a friend said they spritzed theirs with. Diluted fabric softener. Supposedly stopped static problems and kept it from tangling. I don't know if it will help with cat attacks though.

Lol no I think she'll ignore it just for the sake of fun, especially when she only does it when I'm not home.......just like the toilet paper....

I seriously think my cat has serious separation anxiety, not the first time I've seen and had to deal with it, and I really think the only actual solution is let it pass. At least by experience so far I'm pretty sure she'll grow out of the phase of destroying my apartment while I'm not home.....particularly attacking the things she knows are off limits especially the toilet paper.....

As far as my one and only synthetic wig goes, I'll try the warm water and try to comb it out. I bought it online for cheap so I'll do what I can. There's nothing in town within a 2hr drive that won't cost me hundreds of dollars so I'm stuck with what I've got and I'll make the best of it.
