Have any mentor programs been established for transgenders? This forum is great in allowing people to unload and ask questions, but I wondered about one on ones. It seems to me that a large number of transgenders are very young, and I remember not having anyone to talk to about what to expect, emotional support etc.

Is anyone interested in some sort of either online or face to face mentor program for new transgenders?

IMO, it sounds good in some ways but, I see it easily leading to young people sharing too much information and putting themselves at risk for cyberstalking or other dangers.

I know personally there has been a lot of personal mentors here and within the community.

Mentorship is better one on one then as a group setting.

The rules of engagement are set early with acceptance and respect.

Stalking is something I had not thought about, although it could just as easily happen here. Ideally, the mentorship would be face to face and screened somehow. There are some issues that people are not comfortable revealing online. For those transgenders going through surgery with no family or friends, the mentor could be there for the person undergoing transition.

Its just a thought, and not a cure all, but it might be worth looking into.
